About me

Do you find yourself battling feelings of hopelessness? Are you overwhelmed or facing anxiety due to the matters of your life? Are you doubting yourself? I am here to help you. My name is Shannon Gooch and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. I have extensive experience working with adults, families, at risk youth and adolescents. I have earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. My love for working with people and families in crisis has led me to practice as a counselor.

My experience as a wife and mother has helped me become more relatable. Working in various practice settings has led me to be detail oriented, forward- thinking, and thorough. I strive to provide the same level of service to my clients as I would expect for myself. I am well versed in my profession and take pride in my work. I specialize in complex trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, social skills training and behavior management. My experiences have allowed me to develop a greater appreciation for helping others define their meaning of life and identify purpose.

My approach incorporates assessing the concern and locating practical strategies to empower you to manage your issues. I am focused on helping you adopt skills for self-discovery and development while maintaining success. My approaches are Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused. My goal is to teach you to (A) control irrational thoughts (B) identify the true issues and (C) empower you to identify practical solutions. If irrational thoughts are managed it becomes easier to problem-solve and address the issues. I view counseling as an instrumental tool in helping others become aware of their thoughts, find solutions to their issues and self-regulate their mood.

I am looking forward to partnering with you to help you find solutions.

Shannon is a great listener, and her overall demeanor is soothing and pleasant. She holds me accountable while making me feel heard and valued at the same time, and those are amazing qualities in a therapist.
