About me
Welcome! Sometimes life is hard and it is easiest to just lie down and let life happen to us. But because you’re here, I know that there is something within you that realizes that while this may work for a season, it will not lead you towards the happiness you seek nor the life you desire to live. Something within you recognizes that this is a moment to seize. This is a moment that has the potential to bring about invaluable self-discovery that could inspire great change.
It is through times of difficulty that we are able to discover the true strength and courage within us. Already you are showing such courage! You have chosen to gain understanding of yourself through whatever challenge you may be facing currently, rather than allowing it to dictate who you are in this world. Owning our own stories is an endeavor worth pursuing. Will it be easy? Not always. Will it be worth it? A thousand times, yes!! I would love to walk with you and support you in your pursuit.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have 15 years of counseling experience. I am also a Certified Life Coach through the International Coach Federation and have been coaching individuals for two years. Working with clients is something that I truly enjoy. My past and present experiences as a school counselor, a therapist and a life coach have provided me with invaluable experience working with clients of all ages from children to adults, helping them as they process through various experiences and/or reach to achieve goals they have set for themselves. Through these positions, I have worked with individuals and families dealing with such issues as relationships, grief, divorce, anxiety, depression, social difficulties, anger, teen pregnancy, abuse (physical and sexual), rape, trauma, careers and academics.
My counseling style is person-centered, meaning that the relationship that we build together is instrumental in helping you to realize your dreams and goals. I will work diligently to foster a safe, honest and caring relationship between us where you have the freedom to fully be yourself and find acceptance in me. Also subscribing to a narrative therapy approach, I believe that the stories we tell ourselves and the meaning we ascribe to the events taking place in our lives have great significance on how one chooses (or not chooses) to deal with life circumstances. So, I’m very curious to know your story. In the grand scheme of life, what story is being told about you and how do you feel about it? Do you believe that you have the ability/power to re-write that story (if need be) to promote a greater sense of self-confidence, identity and satisfaction with your current and/or future life circumstances?
Please consider me a guide as you navigate your own personal path of self-exploration. As your story unfolds, I will listen and not judge. I will ask questions to help us both gain better understanding. It is my hope to support, empower and encourage you in the actualization of the goals that you determine are the most important for self-fulfillment at this stage of your life. I would be honored to have you share your story with me and come alongside as you seek to take your rightful position as the hero.

Shannon has been so helpful. She truly understood me and gave me really helpful and practical ways to approach how I thought about situations and what I could do to help change things. She is really easy to talk to.

Shannon is probably the best therapist I have had thus far after 10 years in therapy. Her techniques are effective and I feel I am making actual progress with my truth and not how I should feel. She goes beyond traditional therapy and I would recommend her if you want a therapist to help your make progress and really validate where you are. She is very hard working and uses new techniques. You will have a better experience than with traditional therapy alone.

She is outstanding! What I've appreciated most is how perceptive she is. I struggle to admit what I'mreally thinking, even when I know its safe to do so. Shannon was exactly who I needed. She is alert to moments when I wanted to say more but couldn't find the strength (or words).
Further her suggestions were always on point. She has truly been an amazing counselor

Ms. Shannon is amazing. Her counseling style makes me feel heard and seen. I struggle with validation often, but in our sessions I feel validated.
