Shannon Nixon, LPC
About me
I am licensed in Michigan with 9 years of professional work experience. I earned my master’s degree in transpersonal psychology with an emphasis in art therapy from Naropa University. I also have a master’s degree in fine art.
My previous experience as a therapist includes developing and delivering art therapy programs for nonprofits, and working with older adults suffering from depression and other mental health concerns. I have been a therapist in nursing homes and Hospice settings. In addition, I am also trained in Family Constellation work and am comfortable talking with clients about spirituality and spiritually transformative experiences.
My focus is on supporting individuals through art therapy, expressive arts, and dreamwork. No previous experience or expertise is needed in art to do creative therapies. My approach also draws influences from Mindfulness, Person Centered Therapy, Jungian, and Acceptance and Commitment modalities. I feel that connecting with what is most meaningful to you, responding to guidance from the unconscious, and listening to the messages and urging from your deep inner self leads to transformation and healing.
