About me
Hello and welcome. Thank you for reaching out! My name is Shannon Thomas and I am a compassionate and empathetic Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri.
In addition to being an LPC, I have been a school counselor for 17 years and a classroom teacher prior to that. I am very excited to join you on your journey of healing and growth.
I have experience in helping clients with anxiety and depression, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, & coping with grief and loss.
My approach to counseling is integrative and holistic, drawing from various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, solution-focused and especially person-centered therapy.
I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. I am committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I value authenticity, empathy, and collaboration in the therapeutic process. Together, we will work towards enhancing your self-awareness, building resilience, and fostering a greater sense of well-being.
It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.

I’m incredibly grateful to have Shannon as my therapist. She takes the time to truly understand her clients on a deep, personal level, always listening with care and intention. Shannon creates a safe, supportive space where I can be fully open and vulnerable. She never rushes through conversations and always ensures that I feel heard, no matter how big or small my challenges may seem.
Her approach is compassionate, thoughtful, and insightful, helping me process emotions, work through obstacles, and find practical ways to grow and cope with life’s challenges and its difficulties. Shannon’s positivity is infectious, and she has a natural ability to bring light to even the toughest conversations. With her support and guidance, I feel empowered and more confident in facing whatever challenges come.
I’m very grateful for Shannon’s support and highly recommend partnering with her for your therapy needs.

Top notch. 12/12.
Honestly, using better help was not on my 2024 bingo card but here we are.
Shannon has helped me in so many ways that oh so many therapists haven’t.
I truthfully feel like I’ve finally hit the lottery with Shannon and I couldn’t be more grateful.
I have usually gone directly to a therapist through their practice etc. and BetterHelp, for me, was a last resort for a conglomerate of reasons but, end of the day, I’m so so grateful and happy about it.
Obvi, I’m now biased toward Shannon, but now I can see how awesome BetterHelp is. :(
