Sharon Wharton, LCSW
About me
Hello, thanks for taking the time to learn more about who I am and how I work. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado, and I've been practicing for over 5 years. I have experience in stress and anxiety, grief and loss, and life transitions. To me, therapy is a very exciting and rewarding experience, whether providing it or receiving it. I've been on both sides, so I have a great deal of respect for where you are and the courage it takes to reach out for support.
What I've found is that we all have what it takes within us to create a beautiful life. Sometimes we just need someone to listen, to identify where we might be telling ourselves a story that limits our happiness, and help us change that story to one that empowers us. When difficult things happen, such as a loss or a sudden change we didn't see coming, often we cope by shutting down or finding a way to control things. Identifying that you may be coping in ways that don't serve you is the first step. Knowing you want to change is the next step. Asking for help is where you are now.
I will work with you to accept where you are now, find the strengths and skills you already have, and use them to climb out of your current state of unhappiness, guilt, shame, or numbness, and toward more flexibility, joy, love, and gratitude. I use various techniques and modalities to achieve this with you, and constantly remain responsive and centered on your needs and preferences for therapy. Some of the techniques I use are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, along with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I strongly believe in the importance of developing a foundation of self-compassion, and this is at the heart of my practice. I have used these techniques in my personal development and they are life-changing. I would be honored to work with you and be part of your transformation.

Sharon has been excellent from the beginning. I've found her to be very approachable and easy to open up about topics that I usually don't want to talk about. I've been given practical help and have already started to notice a significant improvement in my daily life. I would recommend Sharon to anyone.

From day 1, Sharon was really spot on about where my internal struggles come from. I've never been in therapy and had heard it takes years to really get somewhere, but I appreciate that Sharon doesn't waste any time. She doesn't string you along, she really works to help you every minute. For me, I'm finding value in therapy that helps me identify issues directly, and that provides me with structured exercises for moving forward. Sharon is great for those who are proactive about their well-being and she focuses on helping you build your mental "tool-belt".

I have seen therapists over periods of time throughout my life. If you had told me some of the greatest insights would come from someone I had never even met in person, I would not have believed you. But Sharon Wharton is incredible. Compassionate, wise, generous with her time and resources - and a straight-shooter. She is not here to placate you; she is here to help clients learn, reassess and grow. I am grateful for her counsel.
