Shavonna Fitzgerald, LCSW
About me
I spent hours thinking of what to say and how to say it… I find being genuine to be very valuable in building a therapeutic relationship with clients and it is my first focus in treatment. I aim to create an environment where you feel safe to express your feelings and thoughts.
I have over 9 years of experience as a licensed social worker in New York. My experience has included working with survivors of domestic violence, children, families, individuals with substance use disorders, and forensic mental health. I have worked with clients to address issues related to depression, anxiety, complex trauma, relationship issues, school, and life transitions.
My therapeutic style is holistic, client-centered, culturally sensitive, and utilizes approaches such as CBT, SBFT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Each client presents with unique needs and treatment is tailored to reflect that.
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty”. -Maya Angelou
Therapy can be a catalyst for change and it is my hope that after embarking on this journey; you emerge the person you desire to be.
