Sheila Askins, LCSW-C
About me
I have worked in the helping profession for over 25 years because of my love for assisting populations to overcome issues, that hinders their ability to function to the best of their ability, using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Approach.
Initially, I started with a background in Social Services to Families with Children, with a focus on stabilizing the family unit, by providing case management services and counseling to oppressed populations.
My experience evolved into my role as a Mental Health Specialist, providing counseling and Resources to Social Service recipients, who were experiencing problems becoming gainfully employed due to mental health issues , such as Depression and Anxiety issues. A focus on removing the barriers prohibiting them to obtain employment was identified, and counseling / case management, and family issues were addressed.
Substance Addiction/Abuse, and School Counselor is also a part of my expertise, and experience.
I look forward to assisting my clients identify, address, and work through issues that prohibit them to move forward, and to live the best life possible.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Sheila Askins. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Sheila gives an organic feel. I do not feel judged, and I feel like it is a safe space. I do not feel pressured to talk about things that I do not want to, and she allows space to jump points which helps me get to my "real" root to work on. I also like the cultural connection and the appropriate humor because life as we know it is always serious but in therapy there are times when you don't have to.

She truly cares about my well-being. Since talking to her, I'm learning how to channel my anxiety as it relates to work. I'm finally sleeping and accepting things that I cannot change.

Sheila has hit the ground running with our sessions. She gives constructive feedback on what I’ve got going on and doesn’t stray away from giving truth to how to approach personal progression. Looking forward to future sessions for sure.
