Sheri Johnson, LICSW
About me
A relationship with a therapist is it’s own sort of bond, and can often mirror other relationships you have experienced. Our sessions will sometimes feel like friends catching up over a cup of coffee, and will sometimes feel heavier than that. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can learn about yourself and how you interact with the world. I will challenge maladaptive behaviors that are getting in your way, even while validating that these same behaviors helped you survive at some point in your life.
I want to be your partner in solving the mystery of you, and be your collaborator in figuring out strategies to help you move forward into well-being and happiness. You come to me because something in your life isn’t going right, and I welcome you with loving kindness. I will use everything you teach me about yourself to assist you in reaching your self-defined goals.
I work with adults with anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, relationship difficulties, attachment disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders, life transitions, addiction, general trauma, childhood trauma, social anxiety, grief and loss, identity exploration, and even more. I have specific training in several different therapeutic modalities, including trauma therapy. I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in Minnesota with 7 years of professional work experience and 50 years of life experience.
I work from an eclectic mix of psychological theories and fully embrace the concepts of unconditional positive regard, harm reduction, and strengths-based treatment planning. I ask you to set the direction of our work together, and you can count on me to keep us on track.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Sheri Johnson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Sheri has done a fantastic job helping me deal with complex PTSD related to trauma from my childhood and some adverse happenings in my adult life. I’m a person who has suffered with recurring intrusive memories about past events and anxiety that has interfered with my day to day life. Sheri was able to immediately begin helping with techniques designed to reduce the impact of prior trauma. It has resulted in a meaningful improvement in my ability to handle situations in my life that were formerly very triggering to me. Also, the frequency of intrusive memories has really decreased. I am so happy that I took the time to work through some of these issues with Sheri, and that she was available to help me with these issues. I am 64 and I thought it probably was too late to dig into some of these issues from my early life, but that has proven to be a wrong assumption - therapy has been a great help to me.

Sherri is the type of person that simply put, puts you at ease. She makes you feel comfortable opening up and is non-judgemental. Honestly, she is the best therapist I’ve ever had.
