Shirley Banton, BACP
About me
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you struggle to make decisions? Or perhaps you have noticed a lack in motivation. If so, you have come to the right place.
Its easy to forget how vulnerable the human mind can be to the challenges of everyday life. At times like this the presence of a sympathetic ear is welcomed.
I use a Person-Centred approach coupled with my Transpersonal training and integrate other modalities to meet the unique and individual needs of each client. My mission is to empower my clients to live well and achieve their goals, by providing a safe, supportive, and confidential space for them to explore.
I have several years experience of working with domestic violence and abuse survivors, and have over 20 years experience of working within further and higher education settings. This allows me to empathise and understand some of the stresses and pressures facing young adults and educators in their professional and personal lives.
What I can say, is that whatever might be troubling you at this moment, it simply makes no sense to go on suffering in silence or bottling things up. The good news is that by visiting this website you’ve already taken that first important step on the road to recovery. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support you.
I look forward to working with you.

Professional, empathetic, caring.
This is my first time in therapy. I needed someone gentle, someone who is easy to talk to, and creates such a safe non-judgmental environment. Shirley is and does all of these things. Has made this such a positive life changing experience and I couldn’t thank her and Better help more.

Shirley listens to me and has helped me identify how I can overcome some of my issues. She’s supportive and reassures me, it’s really nice to finally talk openly without being judged. Highly recommend and huge thanks to Shirley.

Shirley listens; I feel listened to.
I hear her analysing what I said and giving new insights and perspectives that I had not initially considered.
With her, I have gained clarity and this has been so helpful in navigating my challenges.
