Stephanie Howell, LCMHC, LPC
About me
Hi! I have over ten years of experience in both in and outpatient treatment settings with adults, adolescents, and children with dual diagnosis of mental health and substance abuse. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of New Jersey and North Carolina, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in the state of North Carolina, National Certified Counselor, and Master Addiction Counselor. I earned my Master’s degree from East Carolina University in 2010. My clinical experience has focused on substance abuse, anxiety/ stress management, trauma/ abuse, interpersonal relationship issues, and depression. I have experience working with those overcoming symptoms of personality disorders and the devastating impact these symptoms can have on an individual and their relationships with others.
Services I offer include motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, person centered, and gestalt therapy. I feel that incorporating techniques from multiple theories benefit each client to provide the most effective and personalized counseling experience. It is my belief that developing rapport with an individual is essential to the therapeutic relationship. After rapport is developed I focus on awareness of the here and now and how making changes in thoughts and behaviors can be beneficial in the client’s life. I often focus on assisting clients to focus on solutions to problems or concerns he or she is having, setting goals, and encouraging you, the client, to decide what solution is best for you.
I am honored to be a part of each individual’s journey that I have been able to witness and I look forward to assisting you in your journey to wellness!

Stephanie has been the most amazing person to work with. She has helped me in so many ways over the last 2 years. She helped me see the strength I had to overcome the challenges I was facing with my anxiety and depression and gave me so many tips and techniques to face these challenges. I am stronger and more confident because of Stephanie. I think of her not just as my counselor, but as a friend as well.

Stephanie is an awesome counselor, I have been counseling with her for a few months and she has been great so far, I feel much better after our conversations. She is smart and considerate. Our conversations make me feel like I am not alone concerning the feelings I have and that my concerns are still important and worth sharing. She is great at helping pull apart concerns to get to the root of the issue.
