Stephanie Van Ingen, LCSW
About me
Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Pennsylvania with over 20 years experience providing mental health services to clients of all ages. I am a developmentalist at heart, believing in the whole of our life experience making us who we are today. Over the years my clients have ranged from age 2 to age 80 and I have seen individuals and families in settings such as outpatient, inpatient, treatment facilities, hospitals, schools and residential.
More important than approach or type of therapy is the relationship that you form with a counselor. Research indicates that the client/therapist relationship is the biggest indicator of success in therapy. In other words, safety and comfort in the therapeutic relationship is key.
I use an eclectic approach to counseling which means that I draw from various types of therapies to best meet your needs. Each person is unique and to be most effective, each approach needs to match the individual. I use aspects of Person-Centered Therapy , CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, IPNB (Interpersonal Neurobiology), Dyadic Developmental Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy.
It takes strength to reach out for counseling, especially if you are not feeling particularly strong. I will join you by whatever means of communicating is best for you; video, messaging, phone or live chat. Together we will move toward your goals. I am available to communicate daily and look forward to working with you.

Stephanie has been so helpful to me. I LOVE what we've done together. All my history we've unpacked has been instrumental in my emotional growth. And the self-trust she's helped me to find and build, as a result of reflecting, has led me to understand myself better. It's amazing how far we've come - considering where everything started. I would recommend her to anyone.

She’s sweet and knowledgeable, and I really needed someone who can be an active listener.

Stephanie has assisted me in inner growth and finding my own identity beyond outside relationships. The work isn't done, but I'm more content with who I am after starting our sessions and using the tools she's suggested in my life.

Stephanie has been a rock for me when I was going through one of my worst points in my life with addiction. Great therapist who strives to understand and care about you. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to make a change in their life.
