Dr. Stephen Bentley, LPCC
About me
I have been a therapist for over 32 years and I have worked in many different areas. I have been a director and supervisor of a practice for over ten years. I have been with the same company for the past 20 years. I have worked in the hospital doing group and individual therapy, I have done crisis intervention with clients, I have worked with a wide range of issues, including autism, addiction, anger issues, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma , death, physical abuse or emotional abuse.
My therapy style is person-centered. I look at the needs of you the client I believe the relationship starts by forming a working relationship between myself and the client. it is my belief that acceptance for therapy from the individual is the only way therapy can really work. In the past 2 years due to Covid-19 I have found that tele-health is an effective tool to help others. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive therapy.
It Is hard to take time out of our busy schedules to take care of the inner us that is one advantage of tele-health, it is hard for some to go into an office setting, it really takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and walk with you through this change. My definition of counseling is me being "A agent of Change."
I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Bentley is such a a gracious soul. If you are looking for someone to listen to you and ask questions to try and understand you, he's your guy. He is always quietly listening no matter how much or little you talk. He asks questions to try and better understand you and your life so he can advise you thoroughly. He gives you gentle prompts to think about with stories from different cases to back it up. If you are someone looking for support I would highly recommend Dr. B!

Very good at listening through the humor I use for my shield. He picks up on the unsaid and asks if I’m comfortable exploring further. Allows me to choose the pace and has created a comfortable and safe environment.
