About me

Hi there. I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor in Texas. My specialty is runaway emotions – whether grief, despair, shame, helplessness, guilt, loneliness, or one I haven't mentioned – it really doesn't matter which emotion it is. We've all gotten into ruts where it seems like life is happening to us and we're getting tossed around in the currents, unable to stop what's happening. Those times, when we're overmatched and unable to regulate ourselves, can lead to trauma that affects us for years, if not the rest of our lives. My entire professional career has involved developing and testing therapy protocols for healing those exact situations. They've proven affective in a wide range of settings, across a wide range of presenting problems, throughout the age range of 4-104.

I especially enjoy working with those who consider themselves "too sensitive" or have been told by others they are too sensitive. There's no such thing as "too sensitive." You are just as sensitive as you are, and that's perfect. Though it may not feel like it, you're actually ahead of the crowd. Let me show you how to use your sensitivity as a tool instead of a weakness. That way, others' emotions will no longer torment you. Just draining your systems of others' emotions will make your life more bearable. Then we can get to what you want your life to look like now that you're not so overwhelmed.

Dr. Brownlow has been a reliable source of support throughout this especially tricky year for me.

He is a patient and excellent listener, responds thoughtfully, and has given me many fresh insights along the way.

He draws from both his extensive experience and a considerable breadth of knowledge with finesse. This finesse has not only helped me gain perspective about my inner emotional landscapes but also offered alternate behavior options especially when I would report recurring dilemmas during our sessions.

Dr. Brownlow is extremely thoughtful and encourages me to think again and explore uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without ever feeling like I am going to get overwhelmed by those powerful emotions. I love how he is forward thinking and unabashedly unafraid to share his own personal stories about what it means to be human and have feelings in an ever evolving complex world.

Dr. Brownlow has really helped me with my depression. He is as much a spiritual advisor as a counselor.

Dr. Brownlow is highly educated and experienced, which is why I chose him as a counselor. He is present and attentive during our sessions, and I feel like he understands my goals. He has helped me come out of a massive depression over the last year.
