Sometimes we really want growth, change and/or to just feel better, but we can be scared to take those first steps to making change. I am here to help you navigate through new, changing and/or challenging waters.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Texas with 10 years of experience working as a therapist, I also have had a good career as a college professor and special education teacher. I am a nurturing individual who also can be direct which is a plus if you want to reach your goals with the help of someone with a broad base of experience and approaches to effect change.
It is important to know yourself and your social world and I am here to help with that growth. My first love led me to a graduate degree in sociology and I bring that nuance to the conversation which has proven helpful (and a bit fun!)
My counseling style is direct, and interactive and solution focused. In our therapeutic relationship you are the captain and I am the first mate- we make choices and action plans together for your good and to help you reach the highest evolution of self possible.
My approach to the work we do together combines Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic and reality therapy . Together, we tailor our conversations and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I've had a number of counselors and Steven is the first one I really connect with. He is extremely professional and the therapy he provides really connects with me. I tell all my friends about him and I've gotten three of my friends to get counseling because of it! My relationship with him is a paragon of what counseling should look like and I feel like my life has been helped immensely.
