About me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have been licensed since 1996. I have worked with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, attachment related issues, and a wide variety of trauma related situations, particularly with military personnel and first responders. I also have extensive post graduate training in areas related to neuropsychology, adoption, custody, child abuse, and forensics. I am qualified as an expert in these areas in several court jurisdictions in Florida and have worked internationally as well (Japan and Europe). My doctoral research areas were Case Conceptualization and Attachment/Adult Psychopathology

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, psychodynamic and developmental based counseling. I am well trained in other modalities as well. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

I understand that it takes courage to seek help, and it's not easy to face fear. I do not believe that "you are your diagnosis". Rather, I will view you "as a a unique individual facing some challenges".

If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Susan is an amazing therapist with over 25 years of experience working with trauma patients. She brought me through some very rough times and brought me out the other side. She continues to support me through challenges that I face and offers me a variety of ways and times that I can meet with her that fit my schedule as I work long hours. She responds to me in a timely manner and always has great insight into what is going on with me. She challenges me when I need it and encourages me every step of the way. I highly recommend her.

I strongly recommend working with Susan. She’s awesome and helped me through a difficult time in my life. She’s really easy to talk with, understanding and knowledge. The techniques she’s taught me, I will continue to apply daily. Susan is a blessing.

Susan is truly gifted at what she does and has helped me figure out ways to help myself outside of therapy. I never have left a session feeling lost, she has always provided the right tools for me to continue practicing outside of therapy. She is outstanding and I would recommend her to anyone.

I would recommend Susan to anyone. I was in an abusive relationship with unresolved childhood trauma. Susan was able to help me work through my confusion. We were able to break down the root of the problem and how it affects all the other areas of my life. I made a lot of improvement in my way of thinking, self respect, setting boundaries, being more secure in making hard decisions, looking at the facts instead of always following my feelings. I’m still improving but since my abusive relationship, job loss, personal grief i have improved. I have walked away from the relationship and learning ways to respect myself, see my worth, and recognize abusive patterns vs healthy patterns in myself and others to have healthy relationships. I was dealing with anxiety and fear and now my mind feels less crowded. I live more at peace now and make decisions based on facts and logic that i’ve learned instead of feeding into fear, codependency, low self esteem. Susan is truly a kind person and wants to get to know the person. She is not biased and listens to how you feel. She is always available when its an emergency and she always follows up. She always challenges my thought pattern to allow me to look at brighter opportunities in my situation. She made it easy to talk about uncomfortable things. She can also make you laugh and most importantly she is honest. If you truly want to learn more about yourself, rewrite your story, be challenged to become the best version of yourself get in contact with Susan.
