Life transitions and struggles offer the opportunity to find greater clarity of purpose, more meaningful relationships, increased confidence, and personal satisfaction. To be human is to feel emotion, both the highs and the lows. We are all connected through not only these experiences, but through the relationships with those around us. Therapy is a unique and personal journey built on mutual trust and respect. My perspective is strengths-based, LGBTQIA-affirmative, and integrative. I work with individuals of all backgrounds, bodies, and beliefs.
My approach is individualized and collaborative. My goal is to provide a co-creative, connected experience that is emotionally safe, affirming, and protective, for you to gain insight and resiliency. We will work together using a respectful, caring and listening approach.
My studies have included training in minorities and domestic violence, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma focus CBT, play therapy, communication and conflict resolution. In addition, I am an experienced clinical supervisor, a certified rehabilitation counselor.

Past sessions with Dr. Buyers have been comforting. We touch base on every issue I have and expand further when needed. She genuinely cares about my growth. Her personality is very kind, and most importantly. She provides the tools necessary for growth in different areas of my life. Wellness is the main focus, continually. Each session is something to look forward to.

Dr. Byers is my first and only counselor I have ever had. She is relatable and incredibly easy to talk to. I was so nervous about my first meeting with her because I didn't know how counseling worked and the second we started video chatting it was an instant relief for me because she made me smile and let me talk about everything and gave me very insightful suggestions that have bettered my everyday life. I cannot recommend Dr. Byers enough. I am forever grateful for her.

When I started I didn't know what I wanted. Dr Byers has both led me to, and pointed out directly, things that have made me stop and think about why I'm here, what I want from here specifically, and what I want in general. I would unreservedly recommend her to anyone questioning themselves, or uncertain about where they are and what they want.
