Tameka Lavender-Hyche, LCSW, LICSW
About me
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Alabama with over 7 years of experience providing individual, family and group therapy. My approach is mindfulness, which allows you to be in the moment and aware of the positive surrounding you. Sometimes that positive is that you took a deep breath today and that is okay. The goal is to help you on your journey to self-love, self-care, positive coping and safely driving toward your goals. We can go as fast or slow as you want. You are the expert on your goals, achievements, strengths, capabilities and life experience. I am merely here to provide you with a safe space that is non-judgmental.
As a therapist, I promote positive communication and healthy boundaries. Sometimes in teaching others how to respect and care you, there is a light bulb indicating that respecting and caring for yourself are just as important. I use warmth, humor, laughter and zone in on those moments. Sometimes experiencing a moment with all 5 senses highlights that moment of success. I encourage you to be open and remind you that this is your safe space to talk about how you felt, are feeling, want to feel and learning where this vision will take you on your journey. I would be honored to help you on your journey to self-improvement, change, increase and greatness that you deserve to experience with all five senses and every emotion. I invite you to a safe space where you will be heard and acknowledged.
I earned my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Alabama In Tuscaloosa in 2006. I also have a Bachelor’s in Social Work from The University of Alabama. I have provided individual and group therapy to children and adolescents. I have worked in residential, public school settings, state and federal government settings, public health and child protective services.
