About me

I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Florida. I have nine years of experience counseling clients with various mental illnesses, some of which are persistent and severe. I have worked with clients with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and schizophrenia as well as those with panic disorder, trauma, and other mental illnesses. I have certifications in grief and trauma work. I am a blind therapist and I find clients respond positively to not being judged on their physical appearance. My philosophy is client-centered and my style is warm and engaging. Using cognitive reframing, I challenge clients’ perceptions and interpretations when appropriate. I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit and I am passionate that emotional healing and mental stability can be achieved when the therapist and client work together with a common goal in mind, focusing on what the client wants to accomplish in therapy. I look forward to working with you in your journey to establish optimum mental health.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Tanya Thompson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I have been with Better Help and Tanya for almost a full year. I have seen more support and personal growth with her than any in person therapy session. Tanya has helped me to work through my past traumas and provided me with skills I can use on a daily basis. She is an excellent therapist and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking help sorting through trauma. I would also highly recommend Better Help for anyone who is looking for mental health support.

Tanya is thoughtful and caring. She has a lot of tools that I’m able to use with her and take with me to use after our sessions. I have found tremendous rewards in my self development from working with her

Very happy with her so far, even during challenging and emotional sessions.

Tanya listens and emphasizes in a way that helps me express and move through my very difficult and numerous trauma experiences at my own pace and in my own way. She respects my challenge in discussing these events and yet manages to bring me around to insights that are helping me move past some of these events, over time. It's a long process but I'm grateful for Tanya's commitment to me as a client in need of consistency and connection. I know that if I continue my work with her, I will continue to improve my coping skills and tools for managing my mental illness and future story. I'm very blessed to have Tanya in my life.
