If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, social isolation, relationship issues, or just general life dissatisfaction, I can help you to get your life back on track. My online counseling approach is for anyone ready to make changes in their lives, but especially for those at a crossroads, facing a difficult challenge, or who have become frustrated realizing that past approaches no longer work. I offer new ways for improving your resilience and reaching your goals using behavioral psychology, habit formation, and performance improvement. For some, this may involve exploring patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that get in the way, while others may benefit from a more solution-oriented approach that works to identify specific goals and how to reach them.  Professional Background I graduated with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 1999. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing group and individual therapy. In 2014 I shifted my approach to a Positive Psychology and Wellness Model, after realizing the limitations of symptom/illness-based approaches used in most mental health facilities. Since that time I have expanded my training and practice, drawing from several disciplines such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Positive Psychology as well as Optimize Coaching and Recovery Coaching. Working togther we will create the changes you want to see in 5 steps: 1. Looking at where you are and where you want to be 2. Creating the motivation, optimism and vision to get what you really want 3. Exploring the possibilities, making preparations and planning for the outcomes 4. Commit to making changes, big or small

Welcome, I'm Rima Mickus, a fully licensed clinical counselor in Illinois and Arizona and am limited to working with only Illinois and Arizona residents at this time. I enjoy working with men and women who are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, and insomnia. I have 17 years of experience as a counselor, and have been in private practice since 2013. I have post graduate training in couples counseling, relationship coaching, domestic violence, and non-drug treatment for insomnia (using CBT-I). I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University in Illinois. I work with adults in my private practice and enjoy helping them navigate through difficult circumstances. Relationship issues are usually a top stressor for many adults, whether it is family, dating, marriage, or work relationship issues. A bulk of my practice is helping adults with their relationships. We explore communication styles, personality differences, childhood influences, and other factors that impact the quality of our relationships. I help clients learn what a healthy relationship looks like and what constitutes abusive and disrespectful behavior. I can provide links to online assessments that can help identify strengths and areas of growth for both singles and couples. Another area that I enjoy helping clients with is health , fitness, and weight management. I have a certification in Wellness coaching and have helped many clients improve their mood and health using some simple interventions. Finally, an area that I find most important, but often neglected is sleep quality. Sleep is very under- rated but can make an enormous difference in a person's mood and cognitive function. I am trained directly by Dr Gregg Jacobs of the Harvard Medical School in providing CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia). This is a 5-6 week structured program that requires the participant to keep a detailed weekly sleep log. It has been very helpful in helping men and women get more hours of quality sleep at night. There is also a way to wean off of sleep medications, but this will require medical supervision with a doctor. If weaning from medications is involved, the program typically takes longer, depending on how long the medication has been used. Please note that therapy is a very active process and frequent communication is important for maximum benefit. I will be contacting you through messaging more than once a week, as required by this service. I check messages at least 2 times per day. Your active participation is key to the success of your therapy. The more you participate, the more benefit you will get out of this service. My general hours of service are M-F 9 am-6pm CT. I check messages on weekends and occasionally offer sessions on weekends. Let me know when you are ready to start your therapy. I am looking forward to working with you! Warm regards, Rima

Hi! I have been a social worker since 2010 and I feel privileged everyday that people allow me into their lives on such a personal level. If you are reading this, you have made a HUGE step in deciding to focus on yourself and give yourself some time and attention which is brave and scary. Social workers, therapist, counselors all receive training to do what we do and many are extremely skillful and knowledgeable. The key to therapy being successful is finding the therapist who you feel comfortable with. I am not everyone's cup of tea but I may be the right person for you. I have worked with a variety of people in my years of practice. I have worked with court mandated clients, birth mothers placing their babies for adoption, adoptive families, hospice patients and their families, homeless Veterans, medical social work with Veterans and justice involved Veterans who are in prison, jail or on probation. I have experience providing group and individual therapy related to trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, anger management, grief and loss, domestic violence, end of life concerns, life transitions and parenting. I believe that everyone is capable of instituting change in their life and sometimes don't know how to take the first steps. I believe my role as a therapist/social worker is to look at everything going on with that person, ask questions and assist them in creating a plan and working through the steps. I am not a "textbook" type therapist in the sense that I do not follow a script based on what my client identifies as their concerns. I approach everyone individually and create a plan that works best for each person. Everyone has strengths and abilities and I am always so excited when someone realizes their strengths and draws on them to help themselves move forward. That is my joy - seeing the people I work with grow and flourish. I am someone who will challenge you, be honest with you and push you to work toward you goals. I look forward to hearing from you if you think we sound like a good fit and if not, I wish you the best of luck on your journey. The right therapist is out there... just a click away.

Most of the time, most of us, are just doing the best we can. When we get stuck, it’s due not to inability, rather lack of experience or knowledge. Sometimes we just need to be heard and feel understood. Sometimes, we need to add more skills to our toolbox or see things from a different perspective. Throughout the years of my experience in hospitals and private practice, many advances have been made in the field of psychology. We understand so much more about how our brains work! We’ve developed new techniques and refined old ones to help rewrite new neural pathways, change negative thinking habits and heal emotional trauma. I try to approach each client with total acceptance of where you are and who you are right now. As we explore the issues you are dealing with, I hope to be able to teach you some new, highly effective ways to feel more in control of your emotions, reactions and your life. I use a compassionate, multifaceted approach of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EFT and even exercise to empower you to help yourself. I look forward to joining you on your life’s journey. You can do this!!

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US with most therapists is $100 to $200 per hour. • Counseling with a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • Counseling with therapists: $100-300

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Pima?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Pima therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in AZ, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 85543 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site where you can schedule a session based on your and the therapist's schedule. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists around or in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Pima counselor?

Before seeing your therapist near you, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Pima therapists near you may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn how to best help and support you.

BetterHelp will help you find and connect to a licensed professional counselor helping people. Get started today to book a personalized consultation appointment online.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Pima licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Pima counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Pima, Arizona can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Pima has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
