Hey! My name is Martha Fenimore and I have enjoyed working as a licensed therapist for over 25 years. Having been educated with a Social Work background has taught me how to see every person as an individual who is influenced by family, work, sexuality, health, stage of life, finances, and social supports, to name a few. Identifying these influences helps both of us better understand the reason for your coming to therapy and possible obstacles getting in your way. In my career as a therapist, I have worked with a variety of individual, families, and groups. We have tackled numerous subjects including self-esteem, sexuality, trauma, family of origin influences, relationships, depression, anxiety, career development, goal clarification, etc. I enjoy helping clients identify their healthy coping skills and teaching them new ones. My clients describe me as a good listener who is knowledgeable, encouraging, and non-judgmental. If I am the kind of therapist you are looking for, please feel free to contact me at any time. I check my emails throughout the day and will respond to you as soon as I am able. Please be aware that I do not go by the Better Help schedule, so give me possible times you are available and I'll pick something good for us both. Thank-you for your consideration. Hello, my name is Michael. I have been a License Mental Health Counselor in Florida since 2009 and have been in the mental health field since 2006. I have worked with a wide range of clientele from individuals with several and chronic mental illness to suicidal adolescents to inmates facing life sentences. I wanted to tell you a little story about myself. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and treated it with chemotherapy. In 2017, I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia which I learned was a side effect of this initial chemotherapy. I spent a month in the hospital, only growing worse and nearly meeting my demise. I knew I needed a new approach. I began my journey into naturalistic healing with food, herbs, and life-style changes. I was able to heal myself. This experience changed my life and way I counsel. I now believe that the use of food, herbs, and lifestyle changes help your mood, mind, everything! So, I have been thinking a lot about my counseling style. To be honest, I really don’t have one in particular. I use a collective approach. I use a little CBT, DBT, Motivational Interview, Person First, and even Emotion Code. However, I don’t believe just talk therapy makes someone 'happy'. It is a holistic approach. I encourage clients to mediate, exercise, eat whole food.

DISCLAIMER: BetterHelp platform does not provide written documents, therefore I am unable to provide letters or documentation for legal cases, workplace grievances, or court-related matters. As your therapist, my role is to support your mental health and well-being within the scope of therapy. FLORIDA BOARD TELEHEALTH REQUIREMENTS: The Florida mental health licensing board requires video sessions instead of phone sessions for telehealth services to ensure client safety, proper assessment, and verification of identity. Here are some key reasons behind this requirement: 1. Standard of Care – Video sessions allow therapists to observe nonverbal cues such as body language, facial expressions, and overall demeanor, which are critical for accurate assessment and effective treatment. 2. Client Identification & Security – Video sessions help verify that the therapist is speaking with the correct client, reducing risks related to identity fraud or unauthorized individuals participating in therapy. 3. Ethical & Legal Considerations – Florida law requires licensed mental health professionals to maintain appropriate documentation and standards of care comparable to in-person therapy, which video conferencing helps facilitate more effectively than phone calls. 4. Crisis Management – In case of a crisis or emergency, a video session allows the therapist to assess the client’s environment, emotional state, and potential risks, providing better support and intervention if needed.

Hi. Welcome to my bio. I'd like to share some information about myself. I have 5 years of experience as a professional counselor, with 20+ years in healthcare administration. During my years in healthcare administration I was in management for 17 years (consistently coaching, mentoring and training). During that time I had to balance career and family, raise 2 children, grow professionally, and trying to grow personally. The challenges of those years prompted me to change my career to help those who struggled like myself. During the past decade I've personally and professionally learned how to balance my life, use positive coping skills, lower stress, and just have fun. This helped deepen my conviction that a person should be supported as a whole, addressing connections between the mind, body, and spirit. I have a Ph.D. in Health Psychology and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. My dissertation focused on using video public service announcements to motivate people to engage in physical activity. In 2016 I completed a study abroad for 4 months to further my cultural understandings. I am also certified in Wellness and Nutrition counseling because I believe in balance between the mind and the body. As a therapist I use cognitive behavioral therapy with a solution-focused approach toward resolution, healing, and peace. A solution focused approach means I work with you to pick goals and then we discuss how to reach those goals. We can continue to develop new goals or just explore personal growth each week. In addition, I use several techniques specific to anxiety, life balance, and positive coping. I also use DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) and REBT (rational emotive behavior therapy) techniques to help encourage change. In therapy, I tend to encourage different ways to retrain the brain and reach the goals set by my clients. I always like to let people know, while I love tele-counseling, I do work in a clinic seeing clients face to face. For this reason I am not online at all times. I am available at different times for Live Sessions. I do get online at least 5 out of 7 days a week (trying to balance my work and personal time) to respond to messages. Please feel free to ask any questions so that you can get the counseling experience you are looking for. https://www.anxietyandwellness.com https://www.psychologytoday.com/profile/210593 Welcome to Better help.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Some of the most commonly asked questions about therapy can be found in the section below.

How much does a therapist cost?

Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.

BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.

Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.

When should I get a therapist in Florida?

Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.

Does insurance cover the cost of therapy?

Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.

Is online therapy the safe option?

Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.

In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
