Hello! Welcome to BetterHelp! I'm so proud of you for deciding to take care of yourself and joining me at BetterHelp! I look forward to getting to know you. I understand that you’re nervous --that’s common and to be expected! Taking the first step is always the hardest in anything we pursue in life- I am here to give you the support, encouragement and empowerment to take control of your life! You can rest assured that you have found a safe and supportive environment here at Better Help. We will start out by getting to know each other more and how I can help. I'm always open to your feedback about how it's going and what you need. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of South Carolina, West Virginia and Maine with over 17 years of behavioral health experience working with individuals and families in multiple settings including community mental health, emergency room, private practice and telehealth. Throughout my career, I have worked with symptoms including but not limited to depression, anxiety, stress management, anger management and relationship issues among others. In working with patients, I refer to Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Therapy. I check messages 2-3 times per day, Monday-Thursday up until 4:00. I am unable to see patients from 12:00-1:00 during the week and do not see patients after 5:00 pm due to outside obligations. Saturdays and Sundays are my days off, as well as holidays. I am based out of South Carolina and therefore am on EST. Please let me know if there is an alternate appointment time you need- I will work with you to meet your scheduling needs based on my availability. With this said, I would like to establish a few general guidelines: counseling can be empowering but it also requires a commitment to change- please be patient as symptoms and issues are processed and explored and understand that it takes time to gain strength. Most presenting symptoms are deep rooted and require more than a few short correspondences to fully resolve. Also, please be mindful that this is a paid subscription so it is to your advantage to actively participate in treatment and keep the lines of communication open. Please take note that after two no shows or same day appointment cancellations, I will recommend that you switch to another provider. My time is just as valuable as yours and appointment no shows and cancellations result in financial loss. I also ask that you please understand that not all cases are appropriate for online counseling and some are better suited for an office setting. I do not accept any cases with substance abuse or addiction of any kind as a chief complaint. Please remember you have access to the room 24/7 and may write as much as you want, anytime. Longer posts from you typically take me a few days to process and fully respond to. Also, few logistics as we start - here's information about: 1) the informed consent 2) confidentiality 3) safety I want to be sure to go over informed consent and mandated reporting and some other important information. Your emergency contact information is secure and I am bound by confidentiality, which means everything you tell me stays in this room with the following exceptions, as I am a mandated reporter: (1) if you are suicidal/homicidal, (2) abuse/neglect to a child, elderly or disabled person, (3) if I am subpoenaed by a court. Informed consent means you are consenting to therapy services with me and understand all of your rights, as explained in the informed consent document you sign. You will receive a request to complete your emergency contact information which must be completed before we start working together. The information will never be used if you become silent, but only in a true emergency, as I am always going to do my best to ensure your safety. Speaking of safety, as we work together I want to let you know that BetterHelp is not a crisis center. Please make note of the emergency procedures and resources listed below should a crisis arise during my time off or when I am offline. Even though there is an option to mark messages as urgent please do not use that for crisis situations. Marking a message as urgent does not ensure I will see it or respond quicker. My name is Celita Hastie and I am excited to work with you on this therapy journey. I am licensed in South Carolina with 18 years of professional work experience as a clinical social worker. Most of my career I have worked with teenagers through adults in individual and small group settings. I have experience in helping clients with the challenges of daily life with a focus on managing stress and anxiety, working through trauma and relationship difficulties, and improving self esteem and confidence. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I am generally a laid back person, but I do like to have focused sessions where we are working together on goals. I have training in Motivational Interviewing and Solutions-Focused Therapy, so I tend to be task oriented and focus on an action plan. However, I also know that sometimes sessions may just be a useful way to vent and let out emotions that are being bottled inside! I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore how our life experiences, our feelings, and our behaviors are connected and how we can change our thought patterns to take control over other aspects of our lives. I understand that getting help takes courage and requires vulnerability and can be challenging. I will meet you where you are and help you find a better path forward.

Hi! Welcome to my page. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC in Georgia and South Carolina) & Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC nationally); with over a decade and a half of experience in helping people to move forward. Are you stressed, depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or dissatisfied with your life? Are you experiencing a situation that you think no one will understand? Perhaps your situation is rare and you are not certain if what you are experiencing is real? Are you ready for help that is actually helpful? Is guilt or shame stopping you from getting to the life you want? Where ever you are and whatever you are going through, I am ready to help you figure out the first or next steps. Are you ready to explore options, make choices and start living a better life? Sometimes when we try to change it impacts the system around us, sometimes leading to outcomes we did not necessarily intend, but have no control over. I understand that no two people are the same and that every individual is to be respected as unique with very different feelings, actions, thoughts, experiences, and history. My holistic approach to treatment is tailored to you, an individual. Whether you only need a safe, non-judgmental environment in which to grow and find your own way, or you need help to deal with long term suffering, or someone to make the journey through some dark place, then I am waiting to go with you. I have a very open, honest, engaging style that incorporates humor, metaphor and encouragement into the therapeutic process, a process that is self-directed and empowering for you my client. If I am wrong about any of this please let me know. I utilize various theoretical approaches including: person-centered, humanistic, existential, Adlerian, brief psycho-dynamic, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT); often framed in a skilled helper model. I have years of experience working with both disabilities (any type) and clinical mental health. I likewise specialized in technology assisted counseling, I have a proven record of counseling results including through the delivery of services via text based communication, and have utilized technology as an adjunct to face to face counseling during most of my professional career. I am waiting to begin where you are and start on any of these: Personal growth / development Anxiety / Depression Adjustment or re-adjustment Couple / parent concerns Anger management Interpersonal / social skills Disability (including psychiatric / invisible disabilities) Veterans Acute stress, trauma, post trauma (PTSD) Guilt / shame Bereavement / complex grief And more! Education: I earned my Bachelor's degrees, a BA in psychology and a BS in Chemistry from Arkansas Tech University, While working my way through school, I worked with persons with disabilities and also with persons seeking recovery from addictions. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. While pursuing my Master's I worked for the division of services for the blind, helping persons with visual impairment and blindness. I believe in a holistic approach to health and wellness. Experience: I have over a decade and a half of counseling experiences (rehabilitation and clinical mental health) including many referrals from community agencies in situations where the combination of factors was too varied for the system to address. In addition to my education and typical work experiences, I am also a combat veteran who served as a medic in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and have extensive training in helping with trauma, both mental/emotional and physical. I have a solid record of encouraging and challenging people to do the hard work needed to reach successful outcomes. I became interested in technology assisted counseling while working with persons who relied upon assistive-technology for face to face and social interaction, and yet due to the limitations of the portable technology and complexity of synchronous communication I quickly realized that asynchronous, text based communication was the only feasible solution for this person to ever benefit from counseling. Freddy L. Honeycutt is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about therapists and mental health services

Some other commonly asked questions on therapy with a licensed counselor and BetterHelp serving the Coward area can be found below:

How does the cost of in-person counseling with a therapist compare to the cost of BetterHelp with a licensed Coward therapist?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US with most therapists is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Coward due to a higher cost of living, and a limited number of therapists taking new clients. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

  • Counseling with a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • Counseling with therapists: $100-300

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Coward?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Coward therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in SC, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 29530 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site where you can schedule a session based on your and the therapist's schedule. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists around or in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Coward counselor?

Before seeing your therapist near you, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Coward licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Coward counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Coward, South Carolina can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Coward has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
