I am Casey , Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been in the mental health field since 1994 and licensed since 2002. My experience ranges from working with the chronically mentally ill in public mental health, private practice, inpatient psychiatric, diagnostics/assessment, crisis intervention, anger management, and employee assistance. My primary approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the effectiveness it has in pointing out negative thought patterns. I also love to use Solution-Focused Therapy as well. Through CBT I can help you see unconscious schemas that are leading you to do what you do, where they came from, how they developed, and ultimately how to become your own therapist reframing and moving forward on your own. I love working with all individuals but feel that I have a specific skill in understanding people who feel thrown away, bullied, and/or marginalized in society. Historically, I have always done very well with people that no one else seems to be able to help or reach. In your first session you can expect to have me ask questions of you so I can understand who you are, where you come from, what has shaped your beliefs and perceptions, and to ultimately plot a course for something better. Most people are nervous and do not know what to expect so what I will say is we will just talk. While I do happen to be licensed, I am human, equal, and not above anyone. I will make telephonic/televideo therapy every bit as personal as face to face. I am also very analytical and able to see/put together patterns, diagnoses, and have an excellent ability to "turn on the windshield wipers in the rain" for my clients. As a result of surviving my own trauma as well as being a survivor of a disaster, I realize that one event in anyone's lives can reverse the side of the desk they are sitting on. There is always that one event(s) that can put the counselor into the position of the client as well and shows our vulnerability as humans. I make it a point to come across as approachable and not superior and I am VERY responsive to my clients. . Also finally, please note: If you are covered under CVS/Aetna EAP then please choose another therapist as I am unable to accept these clients due to a conflict of interest. Also please note, due to time constraints, that I am only doing individual counseling and not couple's counseling.

Seeking therapy to address mental and emotional health is an empowering decision that will transform your life. Therapy helps build self-awareness of emotions, thoughts, behaviors and decision making. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, abandonment, anger, boundary issues, depression, family conflict, or grief, therapy will lead to healthier outcomes. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and graduate of University of Houston-Clear Lake. This brings together different elements of specific therapies where I draw from client-centered, cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches. As a Licensed Professional Counselor committed to the therapeutic process, it is essential that I ensure a positive and supportive therapeutic environment. In this space you will be free to express, explore, and begin to understand your feelings and how to process them. Greetings! I'm here to help you find the perfect match for counseling, as evidence shows this is the most important factor for long term success. My primary goals are to help you alleviate suffering and live meaningfully. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with several years of experience counseling in the mental health field since 2015. I graduated with a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Sam Houston State University. I have counseled students in a university setting, treated patients in a psychiatric hospital, worked with patients with severe substance abuse issues and co-occurring mental health issues, taught at the university level and supervised other therapists, and counseled individually in private practice. I've done psychotherapy with many different kinds of issues, such as mild to severe depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, traumatic stress, substance abuse and other addictions, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, grief and loneliness/meaninglessness. My approach to therapy ultimately begins with warm and non-judgmental support, no matter the problem. I seek to empower clients to make their own decisions and move towards valued-based living. I’ll be here for support, no matter what. Behind my approach is a cutting-edge technology in cognitive behavioral therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My desire is to find the underlying processes that might be contributing to your suffering and individualize treatment together, using evidence-based methods, while also making sure you feel truly heard. Choosing the counselor that fits your needs and goals is crucial to your success in therapy. The counseling field has known for a long time now that the most reliable predictor of success in therapy is the therapeutic relationship itself. Make sure you feel good about your counselor—that you trust and respect them. Together we will create a unique space to talk about issues, learn to gain mental space from distressing thoughts, and build behaviors centered around your own values to invigorate your life with meaning and purpose. You’re not alone. It’s time to get out of your mind and into your life.

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Panhandle licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
