8 years of experience offering psychology treatment

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I am a clinical social worker licensed in Wisconsin. I have over four years of clinical counseling experience working in a community clinic and private Christian counseling office, in addition to two years of graduate internships at UW Hospital and VA Hospital in Madison. I have worked with adults experiencing many distressing symptoms including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, relationship issues, parenting concerns, life transition challenges, ADHD, LGBTQ specific concerns, and alcohol and drug use. I am a respectful, strengths-based, client centered therapist. I strongly believe that my clients are the experts in their own lives. It is my goal to be a guide during a time when they may be overwhelmed with stressors or challenging symptoms. Together we will combine your personal strengths with tools from various therapies (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy) to create a treatment plan that is specific to your therapy goals. Before successful completion of therapy, you will have a positive action plan in place for responding to future stressors. Because a healthy work and family life balance is important for everyone, I "practice what I preach". I respond to messages left for me on this platform every Monday thru Friday business day until 2 p.m. Many of my clients have found it helpful to send a message in the evening or on Sunday, and I always respond to those messages first thing in the workday morning. I am also available to do live video or phone sessions between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m each business day. Finally, because online counseling is still a somewhat newer technology for many people, I want to always be clear and transparent about limitations to the platform. I am unable to write letters for clients to the courts, lawyers, or medical professionals. I can, however, talk with you about ways to advocate for yourself through these systems from the perspective of a therapist. YOU have taken a positive, first step in creating positive change in your life. Together we can take the next steps toward helping your reach your goal. I look forward to working with you!

Hey there, and welcome!! I am so happy that you are here, and reading my page!  That means that you have already taken the first step towards making the conscious decision that you would like to make a change, and grow. I would love to be the one to help assist and support you on your unique healing journey! My name is Amanda, and I am a clinical psychotherapist with over 15 years of varied experiences. I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Social Work from New York University (NYU). My specialty areas are ADHD, couples therapy, parent-adolescent relationships, intimate relationships, life transitions, chronic health conditions, depression, anxiety, addiction, woman's concerns, and self esteem/self concept issues.I am also a certified ADHD specialist and ADHD coach. I am very passionate about promoting awareness, education, treatment, and understanding of people affected by ADHD (and anything else that affects mental health!!!). Besides doing the traditional therapist role, I have had the opportunity to do some additional experiences in the field that has broadened my knowledge, skill set, humility, and understanding. I have taught “Introduction to Psychology” and “Family Systems” courses at local universities. This gave me an opportunity to help shape the future practitioners in the field, and also fine tune my own knowledge and skills. I had the opportunity to be a key note speaker at a “Suicide Prevention and Awareness” walk, and then was able to walk alongside and talk with people that had been affected by suicide. I have had the opportunity to do outreach clinics abroad in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. I was part of a team that conducted original research on the effectiveness of strength-based therapy techniques with adolescents in the criminal justice system, gangs, and/or abused drugs. I helped counsel and support people that had been newly diagnosed with type-one diabetes in the hospital. In New York City, I counseled teen parents that attended public high school, and also worked as the Brooklyn Borough Supervisor for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) where I was assigned by the court high risk child welfare cases to follow up, and then give the court my clinical recommendation on what was in the best interest of the children involved. I have worked as a therapist on in-patient behavioral health units, and also in-patient drug recovery centers. I have been contracted by the government to assume the position of “Director of Psychological Health” for the entire National Guard in the state of Wisconsin, and oversee all behavioral health services for those soldiers and their family members. All of these experiences have shaped me as a therapist, and prepared me to be in private practice for the last eight years. My therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, interactive, and centered around you. I utilize leading psychological modalities in my treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and client-centered therapy. I consider the client/therapist relationship to be the most important thing to establish in counseling.  It's a unique working relationship where you can feel free to say absolutely anything and everything with no fear of judgement. I want you to know there is absolutely nothing you can say where I would judge you or think less of you. Your feelings are just that...your feelings. I want you to feel understood, empowered, supported, and validated to be authentically you. It's in creating this safe space for you that healing can begin! I will help you to arrive at insight, give you tools and strategies that will help you move forward, and guide and encourage you towards achieving your goals. I want to help you feel excited about your life! I tell people that it is usually the healthy people that come to therapy.  That is because it takes a lot of courage, motivation, and self awareness to change. I would love to be the one to help facilitate you with making those changes, while giving you the support and compassion you deserve to do it! I look forward to working with you! Warm regards, Amanda Rue, LCSW, MSW

I believe change is possible, I believe it can be empowering and freeing all at the time..... the question isn't can I change, or is change possible, the question is are you READY to change, and if your ready, I'm ready to help you on that journey!!!!!

Hello, My name is Zack, and I am a licensed psychotherapist practicing in the states of Hawai'i, Washington, and Wisconsin. I have been working in the field since 2011, providing mental health counseling, supervision, and consultation services across a number of settings: community mental health centers, state agencies, major hospitals, and private practice. I have been fortunate to have had a wide array of experiences in working with a diverse client population over that time, collaborating across languages, cultures, gender identities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and sexual orientations. I typically work with clients that are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relational issues, health challenges, and low self-esteem. I also enjoy engaging with clients who are struggling to integrate into new life roles and identities, and in helping those that are battling with addiction. It's my goal to provide an empathic, genuine, and active presence to my clients, and to create a safe and welcoming space in which to explore problematic issues. I consider genuineness to be at the forefront of every meaningful encounter in therapy, both on the part of the client and also of the clinician. I practice from an existential and humanistic perspective. This means that I consider the entirety of our shared, human condition in our work together, both regarding our infinite capacity for growth, and also being mindful of our inherent and inescapable limitations as human beings. I believe that the relationship between the counselor and client is the catalyzing, driving force of therapy and utilize an integrated approach to client work, drawing on a number of techniques that are informed by dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic theory, philosophy, positive psychology, logotherapy, and narrative therapy, among others.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about therapists and mental health services

Some other commonly asked questions on therapy with a licensed counselor and BetterHelp serving the Radisson area can be found below:

How does the cost of in-person counseling with a therapist compare to the cost of BetterHelp with a licensed Radisson therapist?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US with most therapists is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Radisson due to a higher cost of living, and a limited number of therapists taking new clients. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

  • Counseling with a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • Counseling with therapists: $100-300
  • Therapy with a clinician: $100

While many psychologists in Radisson may not take health insurance, some in the state of Wisconsin may work on a sliding scale, meaning they'll factor in your income and charge what you can afford per session. With a BetterHelp therapist throughout the state of Wisconsin you can expect significantly more affordable options, with sessions ranging from $65 to $100 per week (billed every four weeks).

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Radisson?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Radisson therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in WI, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 54867 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site where you can schedule a session based on your and the therapist's schedule. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists around or in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Radisson counselor?

Before seeing your therapist near you, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Radisson therapists near you may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn how to best help and support you.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Radisson licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Radisson counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Radisson, Wisconsin can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Radisson has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
