The nature of my work permits me to perform a variety of care services including but not limited to: individual therapy, family therapies, couples therapy, long-term counseling services, crisis and short-term brief therapy, consultation, coaching and training. I use problem solving, goal-directed strategies to help persons resolve challenges in their lives. I also draw evidence based practices that are founded in the following (but not limited to) theories: Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Theory, solution-focused therapy, and play therapy. I am also trained as a mental health first aid trainer and verbal de-escalation trainer. I graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2005 with a B.A. in psychology. I completed my M.S. in mental health counseling from Walden University in 2010 and I am pursuing a PhD in Healthcare Administration.

David Demorest
David has a very diverse background. In addition to Masters in Mental Health Counseling, he has a Maters in Biology/Biochemistry and worked in Research. David changed fields and worked 25 years as a radiochemist which combined nuclear chemistry and physics. As a counselor his background has been very beneficial in understanding the processes underlying behavior and mental health. As a result of his work in industry David has good people skills which are essential in working with clients with mental health issues. David provides an eclectic approach in counseling theory and uses Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Counseling, Schema Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. He is trained in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback which are good tools to help clients with issues such as depression, anxiety disorders and addiction. David’s initial approach is to develop a trusting relationship with the client. He then works with the client to identify the specific issues. A treatment plan is developed to address these issues. As treatment proceeds this plan may be revised as specific issues come up. When the client completes the plan, he will be reassessed. Depending on the clients progress the client may be discharged with specific goals to work on. If there are still unresolved issues a new treatment plan will be developed and treatment continued. If there are issues that require a different approach David may refer the client to another counselor that specializes in the client’s specific issues. On a personal level David has three adult children and two grandsons. David was raised in the mountains of Wyoming and has a place south of Jackson Hole which he spends as much time as he can. There his closest neighbors are elk, moose, and wolves. David lives most of the time in Boise. He has been fortunate to have traveled the world a great deal spending time in South East Asia and China. He recently spent time in Tuscany and in Malta. He still skis, canoes, loves to fly fish and generally spend time in nature.

Heath Miller
Welcome, and thank you for connecting! I have 22 years of counseling experience with families, adults, and teens in community mental health. I have lived in Wyoming for 25 years, have 2 teenage children, earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of New Hampshire in 2001, and was fully licensed to begin counseling practice in WY in 2002. I have a full work history over this time with individual adults and teens, groups, couples, and families in brief and longer-term practice. I have also been a Clinical Program Supervisor, Emergency Services Counselor in clinic and hospital settings, and am a Certified Mental Health Educator and Trainer. Process counseling in grief, trauma, stress, anxiety, adjustment, communication, relationships, drug and alcohol issues, and depression have been my focus. I have trained in the Best Practices of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). I have developed a practice that focuses on a person's strengths using Brief Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. There are many factors and layers that contribute to feeling unsteady and a desire for change. My training emphasizes understanding how our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors impact each other and how a connection to a healthy body and choices effects most everything we do. Therapy is a learning process for both of us: education, understanding, setting goals, and practice...you will want a warm, interactive, and inviting relationship with a counselor to walk through these changes with and I can provide that. ◉ Here are a few nuts and bolts about scheduling: ► You can find my schedule here on the BH platform, it is set for the month. ► The listed days and times available are issued in your time zone, as they relate to my schedule availability. See if it works for your schedule. ► If you do not see days and times that work for you, please give me a few different options that do work, I will see if I can accommodate them. ► Book a 30 minute appointment, which is all you can book. I will add an additional 30 minutes on the back end for a 50-minute hour. You may also book 30 minute sessions. ► Scheduling to meet by phone or video, at least one time each week for 4-6 weeks, is my recommendation to get started. The site allows you to book only 60 minutes per week of phone/video time. ►You have the ability to message back and forth during the week any concerns or insights. There is a journal, worksheets, and groupinars that can be great resources for education and support. ►Asking directly for interventions that you feel work for you can be helpful. I look forward to working with you…

Mary Jo Greenwood
I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist for over 20 years. I earned my masters in social work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2002. Since I live in a rural area with little access to mental health services; I have had the opportunity to work with all populations. I have been the most effective in assisting those who experience depression, anxiety (including related diagnoses like OCD and sleep disorders) , and relationship problems (unhealthy and abusive relationships, parenting, and couples counseling). I have worked in all levels of care from psychiatric inpatient, to group homes, crisis centers, and outpatient counseling. A large portion of my work has been in the child welfare system and juvenile system. I have worked with abused and neglected children as well as their parents. I have many military veterans in my life. My family has navigated the VA disability process and I have many ideas to share in order to help clients involved with the VA. I practice through the lens of trauma-informed care and consider the whole person; not just individual symptoms. My approach is eclectic and client-driven. I will assist you in formulating a treatment plan that will be ever adapting to your current needs. My friends describe me as "The most approachable person in the room." I know how hard is it to seek support and I never make people feel judged or minimize their experiences. Helping people help themselves is my passion. I like the Better Help platform because people can often feel stuck and unable to take the multiple steps needed to seek counseling in a traditional office setting. Online counseling removes many of the barriers that keep people from seeking support. I have had anxious clients who started out with messaging and slowly moved to phone and video as they felt more comfortable. I have been with Better Help for 4 years. I started 1/2020 as the pandemic was starting up and I had the opportunity to work with clients all over the world and see how they were being affected by the illness and local rules and regulations meant to mitigate the spread. I still have three of those clients who started in 2020. It has been very nice to see their progress over a long period of time. I am looking forward to assisting you in meeting your potential and helping improve your daily quality of life! You have taken the first step. Let's get started.

Hello! If you are exploring Better Help, it is likely that you are struggling with something significant in your life. Finding the right person to help you through these challenges is very important. I then transitioned into Crisis Social Work in an Inpatient Hospital Setting serving those with Serious Mental Illness and their Families. A significant part of my career has been spent with the Active Duty Military and Veteran populations. I specialized as a Trauma Therapist and have been working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, adoption and foster care challenges and challenges of Caregiving. The feedback I receive from clients and co-workers is that they find me to be caring and nonjudgmental, and they appreciate that I am honest and direct with them. You can expect me to walk with you through whatever difficulties you are facing and help you learn more about yourself and the way you interact with the world. Currently, I have availability late in the day (ET); I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. I am also available to you via phone and text if that is more comfortable for you. I check messages several times during the day and will get back with you. I know how hard it can be to find a counselor with whom you feel a connection. I would be honored to work with you through this stage of your life.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Some of the most commonly asked questions about therapy can be found in the section below.
How much does a therapist cost?
Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.
BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.
Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.
When should I get a therapist in Wyoming?
Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.
Does insurance cover the cost of therapy?
Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.
Is online therapy the safe option?
Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.
