With over 30 years of experience as a therapist, I offer a seasoned combination of wisdom, current relevance and flexible interventions. I have seen trends come and go in the fields of psychology and counseling, so I like to identify your particular needs and tailor treatment modalities to your unique circumstances and expectations. I enjoy helping people discover their true needs/desires and pursuing their dreams, potential and meeting their life goals. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression. trauma and neurodiversity (autism, ADHD, traumatic brain injury, etc.). I enjoy working with individuals of all age and work mostly with longer-term clients who are interested in lasting, life growth work. I own an autism consulting business and am a Certified Autism Specialist, a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Clinical Supervisor (for AL). I have worked in multiple settings - inpatient, outpatient, day treatment, residential, in-home, private practice and, of course, virtual. My pioneering work with online counseling in the 90s (pre-Google!) was featured on Oprah's network and in Glamour Magazine, so I come to you with the highest of standards in the field. I typically use cognitive-behavioral therapy, skills-building from dialectical-behavioral therapy and neuroeducation (teaching about how your mind-body chemicals spur your feelings which lead to thoughts, behaviors and habits). I believe that people change when they're ready - my goal is to help you get ready to change and then to support you through change. You know you can't directly change others, but you CAN change yourself - and by doing so, you help change the world for the better, one step at a time. And it all starts with you! Let's create a treatment plan that is both realistic and challenging for you - one that involves a precise balance of safety and risk, comfort and courage. My clients say I'm easy and fun to work with because of the combination of my personality, professional and personal experience...and thus I use a balanced combination of compassion, reality and humor. Change is hard enough - why not make it fun, meaningful and enjoy the journey? I look forward to working with you! Ready? Set....Grow!!

I have worked with people suffering from a wide range of issues including mood disorders, trauma, addictions, and life transitions for 17 years. Most recently I have been working toward board certification in Christian Sex Therapy, and am currently only able to accept new clients who are struggling in this area of their lives. I have a passion to work with people who are wrestling with deep hurts and brokenness, and need hope in their lives. My philosophy of counseling is that in order to help others, I must first be emotionally and spiritually healthy, which means that I get regular check-ups from my counselor also. After graduating from Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, MO, I relocated to Alabama where I began several years of work at a non-profit inpatient substance abuse clinic, and then, transitioned to private practice. My experience enables me to center in on the core of my clients' struggles without overlooking their pace. What this means for you is that I am fully focused on who you are first. My approach treats both the heart and mind, while communicating deep honor and respect to my clients. I will utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as psycho-education, Narrative, and Gestalt techniques to help you find the roots of your problems and learn new ways to cope. I believe that there is tremendous strength when a person is able to tell their story in a way that is both honest and life-giving, and I am committed to guiding people toward these truths and the freedoms that follow. Our counseling relationship will be two people working in one direction: your goals.

I am a sunny optimist and enthusiastic morning person. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, even when the light seems far, far away. I can work with you so you can see it too. Counseling can be daunting. Especially if we have been holding on to something for a while. Reaching out for support takes courage. I am truly glad you are here. Sometimes we want to know that the person we are talking to gets us, gets where we are coming from when it's just one of those things that can be hard to explain. I get military life, aviation, and life changing injuries. My BetterHelp availability is Thursday through Saturday, I reply to messages at least once per day on these days. I schedule live video, text based chat, and phone calls Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Do you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed or boggled down with everyday stressors and struggles? We have all been there before. I believe that everyone needs a supportive, objective person to talk to when they are struggling and deciding which move to make next. I can be that supportive person for you. I have experience in substance abuse, child/adolescent counseling, anxiety/depression, coping skills, etc... My main goal as a counselor is to make a difference in the lives of others, and hopefully provide you with helpful tools for whatever journey you may be on in your life. I have been in the counseling field since 2005. My roles in life are probably not much different from your own; I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, teacher, coach, and friend. Please allow me to utilize my professional and personal experience to help you with your current struggles.

I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor with 10 years of professional work experience. I spent 8 of those years working with a nonprofit organization, helping adults and students with disabilities learn valuable interpersonal skills for the workplace. I worked with groups and individuals and also taught social skills classes in local schools. I have been in solo practice since 2022, working with BetterHelp clients and in my own private practice. Prior to my work as a therapist, I had a career in education, and hold Bachelors and Masters degrees in instrumental music education. I still enjoy playing and performing, but I am a teacher at heart! I have experience in helping clients with ADHD, stress, anxiety, and depression, parenting issues, anger management, life changes, and career difficulties. I am an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider, meaning I've received specific training to help adults manage the problems that come with a diagnosis of ADHD. I try to work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Living an active lifestyle is very important to me, and as such, I am interested in the effects of exercise and nutrition on mental health. I love helping clients set goals to improve their mental health, as well as their overall wellness.
