I understand family systems and the impact it can have on the mental health of all family members. I believe each individual has within them the strengths needed to achieve their goals, whether personal or family. Through the therapeutic relationship, we will locate and develop your strengths together to accomplish those goals.

Hello! I'm so glad you are here! If you are ready to make some changes in life that are likely to result in improved mental health, improved quality of life, and general well being; you came to the right place! My approach in counseling is in general to look at the person as a whole; not as their symptoms of problems. I use holistic, solution focused, and trauma informed models to engage client's in the counseling process and achieve their goals. I have been trained in trauma informed approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); which uses several tools to help client's negative past events have less emotional impact on their lives. I am also certified in a counseling approach called seed digging therapy (SD), which is developed off the therapy developed in the 90's called theophostic therapy. The premise of seed digging therapy (SD) is that each individual is generally mostly good, has a desire to be good to others, and wants to have a happy and productive life. The model states that a person's heart is a "garden" which in analogy has "weeds" and "flowers". Traumatic/Sad events tend to produce weeds and Happy events tend to produce flowers. Weeds in a persons heart can cause many negative reactions in life ranging from interpersonal relationships, self esteem, negative view of the world. Weeds occur when a lie is believed about that sad/bad event. Examples of weeds: not feeling adequate, feeling unloved, feeling a lack of importance. Flowers are developed when something happens that is positive/ good, and the individual believes something good about themselves. Examples of flowers: I do matter, I am important, I am loved, I belong in this group, family, friendship etc. The process of seed digging therapy is to find where the root of the negative thoughts started, and create an alternate belief opposite of the negative. Using narrative techniques, the person has the opportunity to recreate meaning if they want to. I am very excited to meet you, get to know you and help see you to the other side of where you want to be. If you would like to work more with me, we can talk more about your goals and what steps to take to get there.

Therapy provides the powerful opportunity to connect with another person who knows what it's like to experience suffering but who also knows the way through it. It’s easy to feel alone during the painful parts of life such as when others hurt us, we let ourselves down, or plans don’t play out the way we hoped, but the reality is that all of us can relate to these moments because they are part of the human experience. As a fellow human, I can empathize with your suffering. As a therapist, I can help alleviate it with evidence-based treatments tailored to you. I am honored to have been working in mental health for almost ten years now. I have gained a wide variety of experience during that time working with different emotional, mental, and behavioral challenges among adults, children, and families. I have a special place in my heart for working with fear-based symptoms like anxiety and trauma, which is why I specialize in treating those conditions. We all need and deserve to feel safe within ourselves and our surroundings, and I am passionate about building that sense of safety for others who are missing it. If you choose to work with me, you will be met with non-judgment, empathy, compassion, and a playful sense of humor when appropriate. I value a collaborative approach to therapy where I trust in you as the expert on yourself to help me guide our therapeutic process in the right direction. I am hopeful that together we can begin to bridge the gap between where you are and where you would like to be.

Hello! Welcome to Better Help. My name is Starlett Armstrong and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the state of Tennessee. I have several years’ experience in the behavioral health arena, and I am certain that my knowledge, skills, and abilities will make me an excellent clinician with the Better Help Team. I am a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, in Michigan where I began my career. As a past protective service specialist for the State of Tennessee as well as Michigan, I acquired many skills during my experience in child and family services. Using forensic interviewing, solution-focused planning, crisis intervention, evidence gathering techniques, and necessary court actions I have a thorough understanding and knowledge of youth and families as well as the legal operations related to minors. I have conducted several forensic interviews in an effort to determine whether abuse or neglect had occurred. Working with abused and neglected children allowed me the opportunity to utilize solution-focused techniques along with a trauma-informed approach while conducting crisis interventions with children and families to preserve the family unit. Additionally, I have experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults in crisis. As a past crisis counselor for Youth Villages, I was afforded the opportunity to assess children and adolescents in times of crisis. I diagnosed severe and persistent mental illnesses through clinical assessments, risk assessments, and client evaluations. And when deemed necessary, I facilitated in-patient psychiatric treatment for the safety of the children and families. As a previous Social Work Consultant for the University of Tennessee, I worked with the foster care and juvenile justice workers to assure that children entering the State’s custody received the proper services and level of care. For the past 10 years, I have been the Director of Clinical Services for a 73-bed residential facility; however, approximately one year ago, inherited a 30-bed psychiatric hospital that treats children, adolescents, and adult patients. Because I treat patients with trauma histories; therefore, I became a certified clinical trauma professional. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR, TBRI, TF-CBT, DBT, and CBT. I am confident that my knowledge, skills, and abilities make me a superior candidate for your treatment needs. Your consideration of me as your therapist is greatly appreciated. Specialties: • Trauma • Grief and loss • Anger Management • Emotional regulation • Coping Strategies • Self-esteem • Depression Also experienced in: Trauma and abuse, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Parenting issues, Bipolar disorder Clinical approaches: EMDR, TBRI, TF-CBT, DBT, CBT, and ARC Years of Experience: 15

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Russellville?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a Russellville therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Russellville therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Russellville therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A Russellville therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in AR, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 72802 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Russellville counselor?

Before seeing your Russellville therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy in Russellville.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice from a therapist. A Russellville licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy with a Russellville counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Russellville, Arkansas can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Russellville has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online therapy to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
