As an experienced therapist I appreciate the energy it takes to confront issues that feel overwhelming without clear solutions. I take my role seriously in facilitating healing. I care about my clients and do my best to minimize any unpleasant symptoms you are experiencing while we work on strategies that move you towards a more satisfying life. I am authentic, non-judgmental, and direct in my approach. If you are feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or have tried to make things better without lasting success, I can help. Connecting with the right therapist is the first step. I have been helping others shift their perceptions, heal from emotional pain, and reach their personal goals for over ten years. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the treatment of complex trauma, PTSD, substance use, and mood and anxiety-related disorders. I have extensive experience working with interpersonal conflict including domestic violence. I work with individuals, couples, and families seeking relief from the troubling effects of trauma, the negative impacts of unhealthy communication styles, the harmful consequences of substance use, and challenges associated with change. My clinical specialties include treating victims of violent and sexual crimes, adult survivors of early childhood traumas, and substance use specific treatment and recovery. I value and respect diversity and consider myself an LGBTQIA ally. I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm an older, more conservative therapist. My first experience in the field was with the Army as a Behavioral Science Specialist in 1984. I have worked in Community Mental Health, Psychiatric Hospitals, private practice, and most recently service mostly active duty Air Force at Nellis and Creech Air Force base. I'm well trained and experienced working with trauma, depression, and anxiety. I can help with problem solving, anger management, and other issues. I am experienced treating people with very serious conditions, and, highly functional people that have hit a rough spot. Counseling does not have to be heavy, serious and intimidating. Under the right circumstances, we can both find humor in a situation and release tension with laughter instead of tears. For the new client, you may have a better experience and have your expectations met if you have an idea what you want out of therapy. With my experience on this site, I have some observations. Some of you very much enjoy the convenience of this platform. And, however you choose to receive counseling, teleconference, phone, or chat, that is what you will get. There are some that enjoy the almost complete anonymity of the internet platform. There are some that are interested in an assessment, diagnosis, and consultation or treatment recommendations based on the diagnosis. There are some that very much want a good listener. If you let me know what you want, I'll lock in. If you change your mind about what you want, I'll be flexible. If you want short-term counseling, let me know the number of sessions, and we'll get as much done as we can. If therapy is going to be a part of your long-term growth, let me know that as well. Of course, there is the possibility that you just want to sample therapy to see what it's all about. I think that's great!

Dr. Lisa Sullivan Are you a smart and driven parent dealing with myriad demands from your children, spouse, employer, family, and/or community? Is your life good, but not at the level of fulfillment that you desire? Are you ready to experience positive change? If so, let’s connect. I am a Ph.D. psychologist with experience in successful clinical therapy. And, importantly, I too have personally dealt with the real-world challenges of living a driven lifestyle in the face of today’s challenges. My academic training coupled with hands-on experience provide the analytical tools to identify and help resolve the root cause of constraints that inhibit true fulfillment. I am particularly effective with parenting challenges (including parenting children with learning differences), women’s issues, relationship concerns, midlife crises, anxiety, and somatization (the physical expression of stress and emotions through the mind-body connection). I use both client-centered and solution-focused therapies to generate true fulfillment and personal success. I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2000. Thereafter, I provided professional services, including psychological test assessments, to adults, adolescents and children. I am licensed in clinical psychology in California.
