I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Florida and Texas. I graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Fl in 2007 and since then have been working in the counseling field. I have over 14 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including community based treatment, addiction treatment that include co-occurring disorders and have years of experience working in the trauma setting to support client's experiencing trauma. I have extensive training in EMDR and have experienced tremendous outcomes with this modality. I have had experience working with a broad range and severity of clinical issues. I have experience working with substance abuse sufferers, trauma victims, those families or couples struggling with relationship/ marriage and family issues and inter-familial conflict. Clinically, I also have years of experience working with individuals struggling with depression, spectrum disorders, obsessive behaviors, struggling with anxiety and depression. Finally, I have experience working with second and third generation survivors of trauma. I am compassionate, caring and an active listener. I believe that our society depends on how we treat ourselves and others and believe one's mental health process is the foundation for harmony, peace and spiritual process. I was born to first generation survivors of Nazi Germany and experienced the difficulties with living those memories. My conviction to the spiritual process and my belief that there is a greater purpose then the self has encouraged me to continue to provide fellowship, support and volunteering where it's best suited within the community. I know that having mental health issues and life's challenges can be difficult. There is still so much stigma around having mental health issues, the process for getting help can be overwhelming, and it can feel so frustrating when you seek out help and it seems so challenging. I foster the approach of being compassionate and a person that's easy to speak to help support the joining trust that I develop with my client's. I have experience utilizing many approaches of therapies; however, these are the therapy modalities I tend to use in treatment: CBT, Solution Focus Modalities, Narrative and Structural therapy, integrative couples therapy, EMDR.

Let me give you support to help you get through and gain insight about yourself and your ability to handle things in the future. I provide a comfortable and non-intrusive environment. I work with people to help them develop a strong sense of self, learn to have healthier relationships, learn mindfulness, distress tolerance skills and other ways to regulate their emotions, reduce anxiety and learn to be less impulsive. A life of eudaemonia is attainable to all. Eudaemonia is a noun of Greek origin that translates into ‘human flourishing’, ‘a contented state of being happy, healthy and prosperous.’ During the past 19 years of providing counseling services to children, adolescents, young adults, adults, professionals, and families, in individual, couple, family, or group settings, I have encountered individuals who wanted to stop feeling their negative symptoms, whether internal (thought, feeling, sensation), or external (behavior, verbal and otherwise). With me, you will learn to cope with your uncomfortable private experiences, you will learn the purpose of your behavior and you will learn to self-manage as well as relationship-manage. Together, if you want, we can make you thrive in all areas of your life. Our private, confidential, trusting, collaborative client-counselor relationship will provide the safe space you have been craving to be able to process your innermost thoughts and feelings, with no fears of being judged, criticized, or told that everything will be okay, or worse, told to not feel that way. You may experience true catharsis for the first time. You will learn the value of reframing your thinking, and you learn how to engage in cognitive restructuring. Through mindfulness, you will ground yourself, and learn to be with yourself in the present moment. You will be able to identify the core beliefs that are no longer serving you well. You will increase your self-awareness, your awareness of others, and your awareness of the world at large. You will learn to identify the obstacles within and around you. You will feel empowered to make lasting changes, by being open to new perspectives, learning new and adaptive relational patterns, and conflict resolution skills; learning and applying the coping skills that work for you to become resilient, to heal from your psychological or emotional wound or trauma. You will add meaning to your existence. You will learn to increase your emotional and social intelligence. You will communicate positively, assertively, and effectively. You will re-write your inner script, as well as your outer narrative. Expect the therapy process to be uncomfortable while remembering that growth only comes out of discomfort. I will be right there with you, supporting you, and accepting you fully. I look forward to getting to know you. I hold an MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida since 2004. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Conflict Resolution & Analysis at Nova Southeastern University, Florida.

Kristine Bartos
My name is Kristine Bartos and I am excited for the opportunity to collaborate with you. In my professional work and in my own life, I have discovered that truly understanding ourselves is a major component of any successful therapy, as self-knowledge can empower us to act consistently with our values and objectives despite the "noise" we hear from within and without. Therefore, a major foundation of my practice is cognitive behavioral. It's the work of understanding how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, and developing expertise in the feedback loops of your own behavioral triad. I also like to incorporate a psychodynamic approach to address unresolved formative experiences as needed, as well as to provide practical guidance in symptom relief. Building coping skills for the here and now is essential to finding satisfaction in, and sticking with, the therapeutic journey. In addition to CBT, my background includes mindfulness-based practice and an interest in neuropsychology, and I like to incorporate both when indicated. My therapeutic style is warm and encouraging. I am goal and action-oriented as an individual, so I am good at combining a safe and welcoming therapeutic style with a more structured skill acquisition and concrete progress-based approach. I earned a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 2012 and have since found my niche working with adults and adolescents in medical settings. My experience includes providing counseling and crisis intervention to clients presenting with a broad range of issues, including anxiety and depression, substance misuse and abuse, trauma, major chronic and/or life-threatening medical conditions, and other adjustment-related issues. As a result of working with such a diverse population in these settings, I have developed a strong belief in adapting my approach to you, the client, because our stories and challenges are unique. I would love to hear how I may be able to contribute to your life.
