Luella LaRoche
Welcome! My name is Luella LaRoche, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree from Barry University, specializing in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy. I am passionate about helping adults navigate the complexities of life, whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or life transitions. With a wealth of experience working with a diverse range of adult clients, I understand the challenges that come with balancing personal, professional, and emotional well-being. In my work with adults, I use an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. These frameworks are selected to address your unique needs and goals. CBT is effective in helping you identify and change negative thought patterns that may be holding you back, while Solution-Focused Therapy encourages you to build on your strengths and focus on solutions rather than problems. Mindfulness-Based Therapy helps you stay grounded in the present moment, reducing stress and enhancing overall well-being. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Together, we will work toward achieving your personal goals, whether it’s managing stress, improving relationships, or finding greater fulfillment in life. I’m here to support you in making positive changes and to help you thrive in every aspect of your life. Warm regards, Luella LaRoche, LMHC Licensed Mental Health Counselor

I am licensed in Florida with 3 years of professional work experience. To give you some information on my educational and career back ground, not only do I provide therapeutic services through the BetterHelp platform, I am also an adjunct Psychology Professor, at The University of Arizona Global Campus. In addition to teaching, my main occupation is working with Veterans and military families as a Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Licensed Clinical Psychologist within the Department of Veterans Affairs, located in Cape Coral, Florida. Regarding my clinical background, I received my M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University – Downers Grove Campus in 2022, after completing my doctoral internship in Health Psychology at Richard L. Roudebush VAMC in Indianapolis, IN. In 2023, I completed my Post Doctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology & Geropsychology at the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center in Miami, FL. Currently, my clinical interests combine aspects of Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology, focusing on the impacts regarding cognition that health-related behaviors such as medication adherence, smoking, as well as diet and exercise all have. In addition to working with civilian populations, I am highly motivated to explore these clinical interests specifically working with service members, veterans, and their families. Presently, I am also an active advocate for extending military cultural awareness to members of my professional and personal community, serving as a member of the American Psychological Association's Society for Military Psychology. In combining my clinical interests and advocacy for service members, I dedicated my doctoral dissertation to understanding the efficacy and effectiveness of various components of biofeedback therapy for the treatment of PTSD in both civilian and service members. I expanded upon my research with service members and dedicated my post-doctoral research to understanding the needs of veterans living with dementia, incapacitating neurodegenerative diseases, or physical illness, to improve healthcare services, quality of life, and communication with providers from multiple specialties and disciplines. Following the completion of my research, I was offered and accepted a leadership position within the Department of Veteran's Affairs as Webinar Coordinator for the Early Career Psychologist Special Interest Group (ECP SIG), and have utilized my position to build a PCMHI Memory Clinic for Veterans at the VA location where I am employed. I currently am the program director of the PCMHI Memory Clinic where I am able to provide same day memory care, including assessment and brief cognitive rehabilitation to Veterans who are suffering from cognitive decline or impairment. Lastly, I serve as the suicide prevention - primary care coordinator to connect Veterans, who call into our crisis line, with mental health services and provide them with immediate aid. As evidenced from my experiences noted above, I have experience in helping clients with a plethora of challenges including, but not limited to, somatic and health-related issues, neurocognitive disorders, stress and anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self esteem, confidence, depression, and women's issues. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
