Do you often second-guess yourself? Do you have a hard time remembering some things? Do you often wonder why you do and say the things that you do and say? Do you feel anxious about… everything? Our lives are like puzzles. Some scenes and pictures are more complicated than others and require assistance being put together. The pieces often get mixed up, flipped over, and sometimes put in the wrong box. I'm here to help you flip those pieces over and arrange them in their appropriate spots to help you gain perspective, increase your self-awareness, and develop healthy coping mechanisms in a safe, relaxing, validating, and judgment free environment. I empower individuals in overcoming anxiety, setting boundaries, and identifying and processing traumatic or life altering events that may have been overlooked. Together we take a holistic approach, addressing your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self, as well as the different roles you play in your daily life. Therapy should not be a scary experience. Connecting with your therapist is an important part of the therapeutic process. My laid back and humorous approach offers a welcoming environment that helps put you at ease and open up. My own personal physical disability also offers assistance in connecting with and relating to individuals with physical struggles. I know it’s hard to believe, but one size does NOT fit all. Different injuries call for different treatments. You wouldn't slap a Band-Aid on a severed limb, just like you wouldn't get stitches for a paper cut. If left untreated and ignored, initial injuries have a way of creating more and bigger injuries. Getting to know you and listening to your story helps me guide you to the most appropriate treatments. Imagine a warm, calm, inviting environment with no judgments and open conversations. An environment where therapy is enjoyable. I value comfort and safety when establishing therapeutic relationships.

For more than 15 years, I have worked as a Therapist and Clinical Director in a variety of settings such as Private Practice, Agencies and Addiction Rehabilitation Centers, helping individuals tackle complex family issues, including co-dependency, highly conflicted divorces, addictions (alcohol, substances and gambling), domestic violence, and the anxiety and depression which can accompany these experiences. Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, I worked successfully in corporate environments and have a complimentary expertise in organizational conflict, and conflict and crisis management. I take a systems approach to therapy with a goal to help you better function in the areas of life that are important to you. My approach is customized to your needs and goals. I draw on a variety of trainings, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and various family therapy interventions to customize a treatment plan to help you achieve your desired results. My approach fosters positivity, with an honest, and respectful directness. This relationship is a partnership that requires us to work well together, building on a foundation of trust. For this to occur, we need to be able to communicate freely with one another. I am mindful that some topics might be uncomfortable, and we can work through them together. I look forward to working with you. Congratulations! you’ve already taken the hardest step…

Ann Gleason
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida for past 14 years. I have a background working in the emergency crisis setting as well as most recently in private practice. This experience has provided me the opportunity to work with all backgrounds of people ranging from addiction to geriatric. More specifically I am most experienced with depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, self-esteem building, grief and loss, and adjusting to life changes. I also have experience working with family conflict and family therapy. In addition, I have worked with a number of people that have suffered with Bipolar or Schizophrenia. My approach to therapy is compassion and understanding. I like a caring environment that does not treat a person based on their labels but on the symptoms that are interfering with the daily functioning. The mode of therapy I like to utilize most is cognitive behavioral therapy. I combine this with rational emotive therapy, reality therapy, and mindfulness. I like to provide a humanistic approach; the goal being for the person to emphasize their true selves. I will tailor the goals of therapy to the specific needs of the client. It takes courage and strength to look within yourself to provide the necessary changes to a more content and fulfilling life. If you are ready to embark on this challenge, I will be here to support, facilitate, and encourage you along the way. I look forward to meeting with you.

Hello, congratulations on taking an important first step towards a healthier you. I would love to help you with your next steps in that journey. Let's get to work on eliminating the thoughts that are holding you back. I have helped hundreds of people navigate through severe depression and crippling anxiety. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, but will tailor my approach to meet your needs. I use lots of strange analogies, but they seem to help trigger new insights for people and help them to change unhelpful perspectives that they may have been holding on to for years. You will be afforded empathy and respect while we do this work. Be prepared to be challenged, but with some laughs along the way too.
