I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been in practice over 10 years providing individual, couples, and group therapy. I came to this profession a little later in life than many. This has granted me the opportunity to pull from my life experiences in being able to relate to my clients on a very personal level. I hope to provide not only a sense of support but a pathway to exploring your deeper self while addressing both short term and long term needs and goals. My experience with critically ill and hospice clients has given me a passion to work with people who are grieving. Grief encompasses the loss of those we love and also the loss of unfulfilled dreams and desires. Grief is something that we will all come into contact with at some point in our life experience. I hope to be a support and companion in assisting my grieving clients through these difficult times. I have experience with ages from young children to elderly. I have worked in settings that include institutional (i.e. hospitals) to homebound clients. I am not a fan of labels, either diagnostic or social. I prefer to understand my clients as individuals. However, there are times where those labels do help us to understand the symptoms and create an effective treatment plan. I look forward to working with you on your life journey.

Dear Future Clients, Looking for a therapist? These words should come to mind: CARING, COMPETENT, COMPASSIONATE, COURTEOUS, CONFIDENT, NON-JUDGMENTAL, ACCEPTING, and FLEXIBLE. These are just a few of my best qualifications when working with clients of all ages, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and those who demonstrate multiple issues. So, let me tell you a bit about myself. I began my professional career as a teacher, because I loved working with students and families. I wanted to make a change in the world, by helping others learn and gain acceptance by all. Discovering that students come from all different, diversified backgrounds and multiple family situations, I continued my studies and became a Behavioral Specialist. So many educators were diagnosing and labeling students. I found this disturbing as I believe that no child is born evil, stupid, crazy, or bad. Rather, I believe individuals are affected by the family and environmental systems of which they are members. Therefore, I continued my studies in the field of Family Systemic Therapy and completed my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. I began working as a Licensed Family Therapist in the Florida School Systems, Church Programs and Private Practice. I utilize the method of therapy which best suits the clientele. Some of these include but are not limited to Client-Centered, Solution Focused, Narrative, Play, Brief Strategical, Problem-Solving and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. My career experiences opened my eyes to the many diversified situations that children, teens, adults, and families are exposed to each and every day. Something new always pops up and seems to shake up a person’s life, and you just need someone to listen and understand the situations that are affecting your life. As an Educator, Behavioral Specialist and a Licensed Family Therapist, I have worked with many different clients. No problem is too big or too small. My degrees are a Bachelors of Arts in Education and French, and a Masters in Science in the field of Family Therapy. My Professional Teaching Certificate includes Endorsements in working with ESOL (English as a Second Language) individuals, Gifted or Highly Gifted Individuals, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Multiple Behavioral Disorders. I have over 30 years of Professional Experience. I myself grew up in a large Irish-German, Catholic family with five sisters where perfection was expected. This caused many internal family issues, which I now understand because of my training. Also, my mother was an orphan who grew up in a New York City Orphanage before being placed in a loving foster home. Yet, the family did not want to adopt her and thus she suffered from anxiety, depression, and feelings of inadequacy for her entire life. She also struggled with alcoholism and I was given the responsibility to care for my dear mother and wait for her to come home when she walked out in the middle of the night. I learned compassion at an early age and knew I always wanted to help others either in the Peace Corps or here in the United States. My mother’s foster family spoke French and thus I majored in French in college, studying at Immaculata University in Pennsylvania, Laval University in Quebec, Canada and study abroad programs in Paris, and Normandy, France. Now, I am a mother of three married adult children, grandmother to seven beautiful grandkids, and wife of 46 years to a wonderful husband. However, I suffered from Depression and Generalized Anxiety, after the birth of my second child. Of course, everyone told me to “Just Get Over It.” Luckily, I found a wonderful psychiatrist of Indian descent who changed my life forever. In fact, my kind, qualified psychiatrist encouraged me to further my studies and become a Family Therapist……and that is where I am today. If you are touched by my story and feel I could help you, it would be my pleasure and honor to be your therapist. While I do speak French, because there are so many different dialects, all my sessions are in English. However, we can use French when a certain word(s) gets us stuck, so we can use French-English. Thank you for taking the time to read my Profile. I would love to work with you, because YOU are important to me.

I believe in helping clients find their "truth" and once we are able to deal with the truth, however ugly, change is born. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and the first steps towards change are the hardest. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. Navigating today's complicated world can be incredibly difficult... Romantic relationships, family, job, finances, health, general stress... And who can we talk to when we need to confide our deepest challenges? Who do we turn to when we've tried everything we can think of and finally realize we need some help? Choose a therapist who gets real results! Unlike most of my colleagues who mainly utilize Psychoanalytic and Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) therapies, my practice also uses Solution-Focused and Motivational-Enhancement approaches. I've extensive experience successfully counseling clients through relationship issues, anxiety, depression, substance use (including food/weight gain), confidence and self-esteem, sexual and performance issues, grief/loss and trauma, as well as other more serious psychological challenges... As a generalist I will help you face any and all obstacles that have stood in the way of your becoming the best you that you can be. Whether this is your first time seeking help or if you've not gotten the results you hoped for from therapy in the past, together we will take a fresh new approach, make quick progress, and then support those gains as you move forward... Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed, not endured. You deserve some inner peace, so let's get you on the road towards a fresh start!

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Jersey with decades of experience , I understand that taking the first step to reach out for help and outside support oftentimes can be hard. In fact, doing so is a sign of strength. Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed at home or work; do you have strained relationships with others , unresolved issues from your past, or not feeling good about yourself? Whatever challenges you are currently facing or obstacles getting in the way of your inner peace and happiness, it is important for you to find a safe place where you feel respected, valued and affirmed. I utilize a strength based, reality and client centered approach in working with individuals, couples and families. Here, you will be listened to with empathy and compassion. The bottom line is you are not alone. We will work together to navigate your journey toward a better, brighter and more fulfilling tomorrow. One of my clients said it best (used with her permission) "Each week it feels like you ask to hold something heavy that I've been carrying for years. You have me explain how I got it, why I've kept it and why I no longer need or want to carry it anymore. By doing that, you keep it for me and I don't have to pick that weight back up. You've made me feel so much lighter, thank you". Therapy will be a journey we will navigate together and it will be my honor to do so.
