Hello! I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist through the state of Florida with a passion for helping my clients heal broken relationships with themselves and others. We all struggle, and we all could use a confidant, sounding board, mediator, and encourager on our team - this is where I come in! I have had 11 years of experience in the field of counseling since graduating with my Master's in Counselor Education and Specialist in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Florida in 2012. After graduate school, I completed my registered intern hours at a mental health hospital, working with severely mentally ill patients. Once licensed, I became a Primary Therapist at an eating disorder treatment center, where I counseled clients with disordered eating, as well as comorbidity with depression, anxiety, and OCD for 3 years. With these clients, I did extensive group therapy and family therapy work in conjunction with their individual counseling. Since 2020, I have run my own private practice with a focus on relationship issues and attachment styles. I became certified in Integrated Attachment Theory in 2024. In my work with both individuals and couples, we uncover the core wounds behind their attachment styles and work toward healing said wounds and becoming more securely attached, which can lead to improved mental health and healthier relationships. Whether I am working with an individual, couple, or family, I am always assessing the role each person's ingrained beliefs obtained from family of origin are playing in his or her life and relationships. Though coping skills are crucial, I will assist you in addressing the underlying belief system that is driving the symptoms. I look at things from a systemic perspective, taking all impactful relationships and the beliefs that arose from those relationships into consideration. My mission is to leave people better than I found them. Together, let’s improve your life!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. For more than 20 years I have worked primarily with families; focusing on behavioral problems and how to resolve issues within the family as a whole. Working with families this way has provided me with many opportunities to help resolve a very wide range of issues including, but not limited to, depression, stress and anxiety, parenting issues, anger and control issues, trust, infidelity, jealousy issues, time management and much more. I have worked with families that have children with Autism, ADHD, ODD and other childhood mental health issues. Most of the families I worked with throughout my career so far, have been referred due to DCF involvement and/or abuse reports having been under investigation. I also spent 10 years doing crisis counseling in a psychiatric hospital. My counseling style is laid back, but intense. Being a solution-focused therapist, I believe in identifying the areas of a person's life that needs changes the most and developing plans on how best to initiate changes, fairly quickly after we begin. I believe each person is the expert on themselves: you will tell me the best way for you to achieve your goals. I am a compassionate, respectful and non-judgmental person. I need your honest feedback on the therapeutic process, once we begin, for the process to have optimal success. They say the first step is the hardest one, but if you are looking at therapist profiles, you've already started on your journey to a happier, more fulfilling lifestyle. Good for you and stay positive for greatest success with your endeavors! Change is hard, but with the right guidance and information, making lifestyle changes can be much easier than going the whole way without any support whatsoever. AND, change can happen rather quickly. Studies have shown that a new behavior (on average) takes 66 days to become automatic. There really is a light at the end of the tunnel:)

Hello, my name is Dr. Arthur Betancourt and I am a clinical psychologist in Miami, Florida. For the past twenty-five years I was on the faculty at the University Of Miami, Miller School Of Medicine. At UM I was able to work with a wide variety of different patient populations. Many of these patients presented with complaints of anxiety and depression secondary to different types of stressors in their lives. My clinical work with these patients was focused on helping them to cope more effectively with the stressors in their lives. This was done by firstly, helping these individuals to examine their thoughts and behaviors and how these contributed to their emotional and behavioral difficulties. Then, secondly, helping them to explore and learn/adopt new and more effective thoughts and behaviors. This process can help individuals to function /cope better. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to working with you.
