Megan Sihle
Hello there! I am truly happy you are here and have decided to embark on this therapeutic journey. It is my hope that I can be of assistance to you during the process. I received my Master's of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling, from Stetson University in 2004, and am currently a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I have worked extensively with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, loneliness, body image distortions, and emotional imbalances. I had a private practice in Winter Park, Florida before venturing to Nicaragua for an adventure and change of pace. I facilitated counseling and wellness retreats on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua for 7 years! I worked with people from all over the world with issues ranging from anxiety/stress, grief, and meaninglessness, to relationship problems and career/life transitions. I am currently back in the United States and calling Miami home. A lot has changed since I left the US for the jungle of Nicaragua, but one thing has stayed the same: I feel it is an absolute privilege to work with client's as they are journeying through the unknown and trusting me with their emotional space. I was born to be a therapist, and couldn't imagine my life having taken any other path. I am also of the belief that a therapist cannot take a client further than they have been willing to go themselves. That said, self-exploration and growth have been a personal journey for me most of my life. I will be the first to tell you that the process may not be easy, and sometimes just downright messy; but with honest work, grit, and authenticity, the growth potential can be huge and often times, life changing. I consider myself eclectic in my approach and draw my therapy style from a few different teachers, however, I tend to favor existential/humanistic philosophies, in addition to holistic modalities. Simply put, we will explore what it means to be human and the questions of meaning, choice, personal freedom, and hopefully uncovering the hidden potential that I feel most all of us possess. I also feel it is of utmost importance to look at the whole person, therefore we will explore and address your issues holistically. Our mental health is only one piece of us, therefore, it can be out of balance if we are not taking care of ourselves in other ways (i.e., physically, spiritually, nutritionally, etc). I look forward to meeting you soon and perhaps participating in the journey with you. I already laud your insight and courage for coming this far. "Challenging the meaning of life is the truest expression of the state of being human." ~Victor E. Frankl
Maureen Karol
Hi, my name is Maureen and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC, in Florida where I have been practicing for over 20 years in both the community mental health arena as well private practice. I have experience in mobile crisis, substance abuse, individual, couples and family therapy in addition to being a qualified supervisor for licensure for the state of Florida. I would like to first give you an idea of who I am and how I tend to approach not only therapy but life in general. My motto is to help my clients “make life simple again” by taking the issues at hand and breaking them into manageable parts. Often times, people become overwhelmed by what is going on in their lives because emotion has skewed their perspective and has created anxiety and stress toward that issue/situation. I view my role as being a guide to helping the person reevaluate the concern/issue in a more objective way in an effort to break it down into manageable parts. When situations or concerns are broken down into objective manageable parts then the feelings of being overwhelmed dissipate and decision making becomes easier. I view therapy as just a learning experience that at times can feel uncomfortable and at other times feel very empowering. I use humor a lot in my sessions because it’s not only fun but also allows for a sense of levity throughout the process. Also, please know that you are the driver of this bus and I am simply your co-pilot. What we talk about or don’t talk about is entirely up to you and it is my goal to always have an atmosphere of respect and safety so that you feel at your most comfortable to be able to share what is going on for you. I look forward to working with you and seeing where the bus takes us.

If you are seeking therapy, you have already been working so hard! It's time to try something different. I practice a therapy focusing on mindful awareness and living in the present; fully and peacefully experiencing life. As a result, clients experience symptom reduction and improvement in functioning. This therapy emphasizes values, forgiveness, acceptance, compassion, living in the present moment, and accessing a transcendent sense of self. This practice can often help people who have been unsuccessful with therapy in the past, have had a return of symptoms after repeated therapy, or are reluctant to engage in the therapeutic process. Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and The Gottman Method, I am skilled at a variety of strategies to find a customized approach to meet your individual or relationship needs. Many people find relief from anger, anxiety, depression, substance or food cravings, and improved communication and connection in their relationships through this process. They also develop an improved relationship with themselves and an increased sense of peace and well-being. My aim is to provide you strategic tools that will allow you to quickly and permanently assist you in changing how you experience your circumstances and stressors, as well as improve your interactions with others. I look forward to working with you!

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Lazy Lake counselor?
Before seeing your Lazy Lake therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Lazy Lake therapists here may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.
Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?
Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Lazy Lake licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Lazy Lake counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Lazy Lake, Florida can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Lazy Lake has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
