Finding the right therapist can be more challenging than it seems. There are an abundance of evidence-based therapy techniques, and what works well for one challenge may not be as effective for another. The specialty that you need may not be available in your area. In addition, it can be important to consider therapeutic alliances. The effectiveness of therapy is dependent on feeling comfortable opening up to your counselor.

With online therapy through a platform like BetterHelp, you can choose from over 30,000 mental healthcare professionals with expertise in everything from managing workplace stress to healing relationship difficulties. By filling out an online questionnaire you will be matched with a licensed therapist who meets your needs. And because rapport is so important, if for any reason you don’t feel that you connect with your therapist, you can switch at no additional cost.

Online therapy with BetterHelp is also a convenient option for people with busy lifestyles who want to prioritize mental wellness. Appointments can be fit easily into your schedule, and with video chat, phone, and text messaging options, you can attend therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home.

Sometimes we need a little help making positive changes in our lives, and we require something more than just life coaching to make that happen. Therapy with one of the professionals from BetterHelp supports clients in gaining fresh perspective, facilitating healthy lifestyle change, and healing past hurts. If you live in Miami Dade county and have been thinking about starting therapy, BetterHelp can get you started on your wellness journey.

Thank you for reaching out! I am a general psychologist and licensed clinical therapist with over 25 years of experience and three years on BetterHelp. I was born and raised in Central New Jersey, enjoying the seasons, playing tennis, and vacationing in Florida. Friends asking for advice led to a career in psychology/social work, which was a good fit. After college and graduate school, I moved to Chicago and, ironically, to South Florida! I am Jewish, married for 30 years, and have three children, ages 25, 22, and 19. My lived experiences in a variety of circumstances allow me to be a very empathetic therapist: Relationships, friendships, spectrum issues, loss, illness, motivation, relational bullying, sociopathy, self-esteem, empowerment/self-strengthening, family issues, career concerns, and sports psychology. At 23, my tennis racket was traded in for figure skates: I have been skating ever since at the Silver Ladies Freestyle Level, in addition to testing in Silver Dance. My approach combines guidance and support, motivating others to make life changes while exploring the inner self. Life is full of hills and valleys and sometimes a steep climb. I provide a different vantage point and insight to begin the journey of change. Each of us is unique, and our therapeutic pathway reflects that individuality. I enjoy helping clients become motivated to make life changes while exploring their inner selves. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with relationship difficulties, parenting, self-esteem and self-empowerment struggles, goal management, career goals/issues, familial concerns, grief and loss, psychopathy, and manipulative tactics within relationships. I take an eclectic approach and enjoy integrating different treatment modalities into sessions to adhere to the individual needs of the client: Psychodynamic; EMDR (I am EMDR trained), Couples therapy (Gottman Level 1); Systemic, Insight-Oriented, Solution-based, Narrative, Rogerian-Strength-based, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, Vulnerability Cycle Approach, Emotion Focused and Client Focused Therapies, and Cognitive-Behavioral. My specialty is relationships, boundaries, change, organization, and self-control. By helping individuals learn how to respond to others and daily stresses in a healthy way, I help them live happier, more fulfilling lives. I take a client-centered approach to assisting clients to gain clarity, perspective, and self-esteem so they can be their best versions. I particularly enjoy working with couples, helping them communicate and reflect on themselves, each other, and their relationship. Men and women often have very different perceptual styles. Understanding these differences and how to approach and embrace these unique aspects helps couples become stronger and more unified. If you do not see a time on the scheduler that accommodates you, it does not mean that I cannot do a specific time for you. I often schedule "by appointment" significantly earlier in the day and on weekends. I also utilize a sincere approach, so if you desire to be lulled into a false sense of security, I am not the therapist for you. Quotes: "Who is afraid of the wolf does not go into the forest." Aljona Savchenko "If you live long enough, you experience everything." Scott Hamilton "If you have the choice to be kind or right, be kind and you will always be right." Anonymous "Thinking is difficult, that's why most people judge." Carl Jung "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It is the life in your years." Abraham Lincoln "If you don't have a miracle, you can create one." Nic Vujicic "When people show you who they are, believe them the first time."-Maya Angelou "Your relationship with your therapist will not be perfect." Sue Jacobson. The selection of a psychotherapist is an intensely personal private intimate decision. Therapy is about one thing: focused communication. With the appropriate modification of language, we can think differently. If we think differently, we can change behaviors. And if we consistently change behaviors, they can become long-term, therapeutic, healthy change. Yes, that journey begins with the first step. My journey began last century with graduate school and licensure. Spent many years working with our incarcerated brothers and sisters. Their needs are real and varied. Being on the “outside” doesn’t mean you aren’t still incarcerated. Spent over a dozen years working with a Native American community. So many needs and so little time. A very special time in my life working with all ages, all needs, often through the assistance of an interpreter. From that chapter, I moved into substance abuse eventually becoming clinical director at several programs. Sobriety like therapy is a day-to-day process and there is nothing wrong with that. Perfection is not possible but excellence is attainable! Lastly, as a former first responder, spent over a decade assisting that community with critical incident stress. Actually, earned a doctorate with the research we all generated together. Nothing quite prepares you for that profession and the significant costs it exacts but if you would just like the opportunity to be, in a kind of ministry of presence, that is one of the reasons I am here . . . And for all, sometimes absolutely the best therapy comes from being with someone in a special moment without saying a word. So, how bout it? Even if it is not me, will you continue your search and seek? Why? Because there are some people on this Earth who do not need to meet you, be in a relationship with you, who know without a shadow of a doubt you are special! Unique! You are worthy! And although it may not be fashionable, will tell you are loved! Enjoy your journey and take that step and just maybe our paths will cross. Looking forward to it . . .

My name is Tami and I am licensed in Florida with 12 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, LGBTQAI+-related issues, & relationship issues, and so mush more. In my vast experience of working in a facility and private practice, there are few issues that come to me now, that I haven't seen and counseled before. I worked at an addiction facility for approximately 3 years, doing evaluations in the jail, to get people out of jail and into treatment where they belonged. Because I believe no one should be in jail for an addiction issue. I do free counseling for combat veterans through a program called Give An Hour. I am probably not your traditional counselor, in the sense that I don't only use a single approach or a particular counseling theory, I use a more eclectic view, wherein, I gear the approach to each client individually, meeting them where they are in their life. Experience has taught me that each and every client I have had the honor of working with, is an individual and there is no cookie cutter approach that works for everyone. So after I meet each client for the first time, I decide what approach will work best for them. I am of the theory of treating a person holistically because people aren't just a condition or disorder they have, they are a person independent of whatever issues they are experiencing. I work with my clients to create an open, honest, and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change, in order to become the best version of yourself. My job is to offer you the tools you need and help you gain confidence in yourself to make the changes that you want to see and be able to move forward without the need of a counselor in the future. I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you.
