Therapy offers reflection and redefines what is possible in your life. For nearly two decades I have been in position to see a number of individuals and families take advantage of the opportunity that therapy provides to create functional responses to the ups and downs of being alive. The therapeutic relationship is sacred to me because it is through the client-therapist connection that the mirror of self-awareness becomes clear. It is not unusual for each member of the relationship to have their life touched and changed for the better. I see it as an honor and privilege whenever someone invites me into their life and their private thoughts. It is not our training or our education that makes us effective supporters of self-healing as much as it is our ability to create an environment of trust, honesty, and mutual understanding. Building this relationship and giving individuals the space to make decisions that support their emotional goals has been my area of expertise for quite some time. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, family issues, existential angst, and even spiritual crisis, the therapeutic relationship can work in your favor.

The most important thing about me as a therapist is my hope and belief in all of my clients. Recognizing that you're unhappy and want to make changes is one of the biggest challenges, and you're here! Let's talk more, and we can work together to move forward as partners in this process. Therapy with me is a safe place to unload all the things life throws your way, and I'll provide genuine and real communication about what's going on. We'll talk about practical ways to change those thoughts and your life. As a therapist, I like to remember and remind myself that my clients know their lives and themselves better than I do, and my role is to walk alongside you as you work through different challenges you're experiencing. I view my role as more of a navigator and you're in the driver's seat. During my time with older teens and adult individuals, my style is very person-centered, meaning I'll meet you where you are and not expect you to know things that youhaven't experienced, and we'll walk through it together, honestly and openly. I'm also a very solution-focused person, and try to bring this into my sessions as well, helping you find solutions for issues, so that it doesn't feel that you're running around in circles without making progress. I know your time is important, and you want to feel that you're getting something from every conversation we have. I'm not afraid to pull from many different counseling modalities in order to best serve your needs, and I love learning new ways to tackle problems. A strong therapeutic relationship is ultimately the most important part of therapy in order to progress through the therapeutic process. This means that you are comfortable sharing your life and thoughts with me and I understand where you are coming from and hear your concerns. One thing that might set me apart, is that I realize the importance of our whole experiences, meaning that we'll talk not only about what's going on in your mind, but also the other aspects of life (diet, exercise, sleep). A huge part of managing mental health, not only for you but for me as well, is having a good balance of these as well as coping skills to help manage depression, anxiety, mood and stress. My name is Meghan, and I'm a licensed mental health counselor working in the state of Florida. I graduated from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) in 2009 and have been working as a therapist ever since. I started my career working with children and families in the community setting and homes, worked in the school setting with at-risk teenagers, and most recently I see clients, aged 12-30, in my private practice. In my personal life, I like to spend time with my family and two dogs, Omar and Olive, read, bike and run, and visit the beach. I also love to travel, experience new things and meet new people.
