As a licensed marriage and family therapist I provide a holistic and systemic perspective towards individual counseling and couples therapy. I’ve had the privilege of working with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, healing from trauma, coping with grief, financial struggles, relationship challenges, career/work hurdles, adjustment to life changes, family or interpersonal conflicts, parenting struggles, and coping with general life’s stressors. I assist clients with achieving the profound benefits of working toward one’s authentic self, strengthening one’s internal dialogue and building a resilient wellness kit to navigate life’s ups and downs. A strong and healthy sense of self is the foundation for effective emotional well-being, personal growth, and maintaining healthy connections with others. My interactions with clients are focused on maintaining a respectful, insightful, and empathetic environment. I work with clients at their pace and their comfort level towards the achievement of their desired goals and the maintenance of these goals. My clinical approach is rooted in strength-based narrative therapy; recognizing my clients are the experts in their lives, and my role is to guide and support them on their journey of healing and transformation. My therapeutic approach is strongly influenced by Narrative therapy and Cognitive therapy. There guiding principles supports my clinical mantra - Think, Feel, Act; meaning our thoughts impact our feelings and how we feel impact how we interact with others and the world. The decision to seek assistance indicates a desire to achieve one’s goals and willingness to begin the process of self-healing and self-discovery. I look forward to supporting you throughout your journey.

Thank you for visiting my profile. I offer a safe and judgment-free opportunity for people to discuss problems or challenges they are facing. I work with a diverse combination of professionals, blue collar workers, parents, graduate students, agency administrators, seniors, and others. I enjoy helping clients explore alternatives for understanding the past, experiencing the present, and moving into the future. My approach involves talking in plain language and, as appropriate, with a bit of lightness and humor. I transitioned to counseling after a successful 32-year career as a private practice lawyer. My life experiences, previous professional history, and compassion help me help clients. I work with clients on relationship issues, toxic workplace concerns, anger management, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, assertiveness training, career choices, and other concerns. I enjoy working with caregivers for the elderly, disabled, or ill.

From the first breath of life to the last, relationship with others is a living passion. When relating becomes dysfunctional, life is turned inside out and upside down. Through practiced clinical skills, client sensitivity, and compassion born through faith, the therapeutic approach I bring to clients can foster a life-balance of living, loving, and relating once again, or for the first time ever. It can be a difficult task. I am here to help make it easier. In addition to a normal practice of building healthy relationships and families, I also specialize in working with children and adolescents experiencing trauma and crisis. I also provide Prolonged Exposure Therapy for adults suffering with PTSD resulting from domestic violence, sexual abuse, combat, or first responder situations. Efficacy of treatment is validated and enhanced in my practice through purposeful utilization of quality assessment tools. These tools help take the guess work out of diagnosis and treatment, and help facilitate a brief therapy approach, reducing therapeutic involvement and investment from months of work to a matter of weeks. On a personal note, I have been married for 46 years and have two wonderful adult children and two fabulous grandsons! I hold a Master of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master of Psychology Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I have a pet cat named Soxy, who loves me as much as I love her!

I am delighted to be in a place in my life where the mental health of others is primary. I am an LMHC and have been so since 1998. I believe that counselors that can help others are born with the counseling gift; and the educational curriculum and specialties are supports in accomplishing their academic needs. I say this because even as a young woman riding the city bus, strangers would sit next to me and tell me their most horrible life experiences. In other words, I was born to do what I do. For the past several years I felt that my professional counseling days were over and in that time I completed several workshops, wrote a devotional, and looked forward to a time when I could relax and bask in a life well completed. That dream has changed as I have witnessed the world as a whole in the last several years. We are facing new and even greater challenges in our lives! (e.g., Covid-19, Mass Unemployment, Families on the brink of disaster, Mass Shootings, etc.) I am returning to the counseling world to do my part. I see there is so much that needs to be done. I cannot rest in my gifts anymore. I am here to listen and support your emotional health. We all need that kind of support, now more than at any time I have witnessed in my years of counseling interactions. I look forward to being of service in anyway I can. Never judging, listening, and always encouraging you to be your better-self! I'm here for you!

Resiliency means “bouncing back” from difficult experiences. I believe everyone is resilient. My passion is to help others learn to deal with difficult experiences and ‘bounce back’. My goal is to help you to have balance in your life (physically/intellectually/emotionally/spiritually) through skills, which you will learn about during our sessions, in a comfortable welcoming environment. Dealing with difficult experiences are what led me in the direction of becoming a helper for others. I am grateful to have learned about, and been able to help, individuals for the past twenty five years who have battled many types of experiences. I can help you learn skills to help with feelings associated with grief and loss, whether due to a trauma or the loss of a loved one. I also teach skills to help children learn to cope in the classroom environment. As you learn and practice these skills, you can expect to gain a sense of calmness and confidence. My belief is that “…suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5: 3-4. My goal is to try instill the belief in you, that there is always hope.
