My name is Lynette Maggs and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I started my practice in a community mental health agency in the state of Florida gaining a wealth of knowledge and perspective of the scope of mental illness within our communities. This led me down the path to specialize in areas such as the welfare of children and families affected by trauma and its impact not only on the individual, the family but also the entire community. I have worked with families and individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, abuse/neglect, parenting difficulties, addiction, stress, loss, and the day to day hurdles each of us face in life. I would describe my approach as empathetic, warm, goal oriented, and client centered. I use Cognitive Behavioral therapy, as well as Client Focused therapy as the basis to my therapeutic approach to help my clients set goals and objectives, work through their traumas, and feel empowered once they have met their goals. I earned my Bachelor Degree through attending universities in the eastern U.S as my family traveled with my husband in his Coast Guard career. My Master Degree from Liberty University, Virginia in Mental Health Counseling. I have been practicing in the field for the past 20 years with a wealth of training and experiences prior to this time. I believe humor is essential as we face our hurdles in life and this has been lent to me through the 36 years of marriage, a daughter and navigating this all through 20 years of military life.

Empowering Others to Live Happier Lives. I am Jennifer Evans, LPC, LMHC. I am a board-certified therapist in multiple states and over 15 years of counseling experience. I am passionate about effecting change and helping work with people to achieve insight in order to gain maximum potential and reach their most desired visions and goals. I know personally and professionally how difficult it is to get here and I am proud of your first step and commitment to change. I know I can be valued support as we work together to reach success, insight, and overcome emotional and psychosocial stressors. A little more about me, I was born and raised in Florida, did my undergraduate at Florida State University, and moved to Virginia to Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I studied clinical counseling and received my Master’s in Art Therapy. As a military spouse, we relocated many times, having to redevelop my career each duty station, which gave me a myriad of experiences with various populations. My passion for treatment is trauma and life experiences that lead us to feel fearful, unsafe, and saddened; sometimes with no explanation as to why we feel the way we do. I work with my client’s in a person-centered format with cognitive-behavioral underpinnings and psychoeducation to not only work through and build a better understanding of ourselves but the experiences and beliefs that built us and ways to endure and build resiliency to better manager those feelings so they are not as overwhelming in the future.

My mission is to inspire others to live their purpose. For over 25 years, I have coached individuals, couples and families with their relationships. The #1 relationship problem goes beyond communication. It is learning to resolve conflict and getting stronger through it. It is about accepting differences for what they are. Whether you just want a stronger relationship or you are in a crisis and do not know which way to turn, the only thing holding you back right now is probably fear. Ask yourself: What would love do? I have a passion to help people have happier lives. First and foremost, we must understand ourselves. Our pain that is not resolved does not end when we leave a relationship. We pass them on to our children and we carry them into our next relationships. It is important for us to have conscious relationships so that our children will have a better chance of being successful in their own relationships. Otherwise we will watch them repeat our mistakes. A therapeutic relationship mimics our other relationships. It is important that we practice mutual respect. This would include making your therapy appointment a priority just like you would your other relationships and if something comes up and you need to change your appointment (other than an emergency that you cannot control) I ask that you would show enough respect to give at least 24 hours notice so the time can be available for someone else. A therapist must model the bevavior that they coach you to have in your relationships. Therefore, after two no shows or cancellations without 24 hours notice, I will ask you to find another therapist out of respect for myself and my other clients who need the time that you must not value enough. This is a consequence not a punishment. My latest appointment is 5 P.M. These are available by request.

My name is Susana Mejia Vargas. I am a fully bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and my main focus is to help clients with unresolved trauma. Depending on how you are affected, trauma can cause difficulties in your daily life, such as hopelessness, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, constant irritability, and stress. I help my clients better understand the challenging aspects of traumatic events that are affecting their emotional and mental health. I will make clinical judgments about how to proceed in certain situations, but you are an expert on yourself, even if you don't feel that way. I use evidence-based practices such as psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and motivational therapy. One of my strengths is my background and vast experience with adoptees or adopting families that are facing specific challenges such as grief and loss, struggling with insecure attachment, identity or cultural issues, and trauma. Everyone has a different healing process. First, I need to understand what is happening in your body and mind and, from there, navigate together the best journey to build resilience, cope with stress, rely on support groups, and build purpose in life. Fostering effective communication is one of my main strengths: active listening and building rapport. It can be not easy to decide to start therapy, but give yourself credit if you take this first step in your healing process. Being vulnerable allows us to become more in tune with our emotions and identify what we need to feel fulfilled. Vulnerability is not just about sharing your feelings with others but, most importantly, being honest with yourself. In therapy, we can address your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and help improve your mental health and well-being. I'm looking forward to working with you!
