Hello there-- you made it! Thank you for taking the first step in contacting me! I am a bilingual and bicultural Licensed Mental Health Counselor licensed in Florida with over 15 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked around the world- in Mexico, in the US, in Germany, in Japan, and in US, and worked in a wide variety of settings, including extensive work in community mental health, substance abuse/addictions, child welfare, and with military and veteran populations. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including couples/relationship issues, anxiety, depression, immigration-related issues, abuse and trauma, divorce and separation, and grief and loss, among other things. I have also worked extensively with the Marine Corps in the area of force preservation and suicide prevention, and have worked with other branches of the service as well, both in the US and OCONUS. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I honestly believe we can work together to find solutions for almost any problem and that we can emerge from challenges stronger, and even more resilient. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, mindfulness training, and other techniques. I also have incorporated many things I have learned in my travels and interactions with psychology in other cultures and countries into my extensive training. I will tailor our interactions and treatment to help you meet your goals and work collaboratively with you every step along the way. It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Our life path is full of ups and downs with unexpected twists and turns. We learn to develop a way of coping whether it is a positive or negative method to help deal with stressors or adapt to change. However, the majority of the time, we fall back on what we are accustomed to when dealing with a stressful situation or unexpected change; such as becoming confused, frustrated, emotional, withdrawing, angry, combative, or ignoring the situation and hoping the situation will just magically disappear or be resolved. Sometimes we need assistance to develop positive coping skills to deal with unexpected change or stressful situations. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families to overcome numerous challenges. Besides treating many mental health conditions, I have specialized training in treating anxiety, career, conflict, depression, grief, self-esteem, anger management, behavior issues, stress, trauma, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorder. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Solution Focus Brief Therapy, and Strength-based therapy. I encourage collaboration from you when designing a treatment plan to ensure it is implemented properly and to increase the potential for a successful outcome. Your well-being is my priority, and I am looking forward to helping you meet your goal.

Welcome and thank you. Thank you for putting yourself first – ever or perhaps in a long time. Seeking help for your health is a profound step in the healing process and a big part of self-care. I applaud you for this decision. Are you seeking internal peace and calm amidst the chaos of life? Do you feel like something is missing? Are you struggling? Do you feel misunderstood? Do you want to have stable, healthier, and happier relationships? Are you ready to take the next step? Are you ready to talk to someone who will listen and support you in your journey? Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tina Marie Suarez. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC, with 13 years of counseling experience. I have worked with children, adults, couples, and groups; however, my passion is working one-on-one with adults. I have, over the years, worked in multiple settings ranging from non-profit organizations and residential settings to para-church / church-based and private practice. My counseling style is eclectic in nature. I primarily work from a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy modality and incorporate Christian Counseling should this be something you are interested in. Additionally, I have utilized Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family System Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Therapy all in a culturally sensitive atmosphere. I provide counseling in a gentle, relaxed, safe, and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Therapists do not; however, magically make the struggle or situation better. It is not easy to look within and explore the raw emotions at the core of why we respond a certain way to the situations around us. I believe the ability for positive change is inside everyone if you’re willing to look and work for it – and you've come to the right place. The genuine change you seek comes from being honest with yourself and others. Learning and accepting who we are is the first step. If you are struggling, know that there is hope, it does get better, and I can help you take those steps to a new life. I look forward to working with you!
