“Life is like a coin, you can spend it on anything you choose, however you can only spend it once, therefore make the most out of it.”- Candace M. Johnson Greetings, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 9 to 10 years’ experience within the mental health field. I hold a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology, acquired from North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University. Upon the completion of my undergraduate studies, I obtained my Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Atlanta (formerly known as the Georgia Professional School of Psychology). I've received rigorous training through my psychiatric practicum at Emory Decatur Hospital/Atlanta, GA. My training consists of completing psychiatric assessments with the medical and mental health population, crisis intervention within an emergency room setting, conducting psychoeducational groups, and the development of ethical and effective clinical skills. My professional experience includes counseling individuals within an acute inpatient psychiatric setting, in person and telephonic crisis intervention, coordination of behavioral health services and conducting extensive psychological assessments to determine an individual’s level of safety. I have worked/counseled the following populations: Children and Adolescents, Young Adults, General Adults. My main theory of choice is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. However, I tailor my therapeutic techniques, based off the individual’s presenting signs and symptoms. I also believe in establishing a genuine professional/therapeutic relationship with the individual, because that is the most effective way to see change within the individual. Hello everyone, my name is Christian Waller. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Master's degree from Augusta University in 2017. Since my graduation, I have provided both individual and group therapeutic services to children, teens, and adults. Although my primary focus is working with processing trauma and reducing the effects of traumatic stress, I have gained experience working with anxiety, depression, OCD, anxieties/concerns with discovering/exploring sexuality and/or gender expression, and other areas that individuals would like to process in session. I have been trained in providing several evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and I tend to use techniques from each in my therapeutic approach. In TF-CBT, I learned about the ABCs and I thoroughly believe that affect (emotions), behaviors, and cognitions are all related in how we experience our own realities. I believe that goals are substantial in the therapeutic process, and although they might be hard to discover, they give us a guideline and somewhat of an endpoint. Not everything can be accomplished in a session, but short-term goals and long-term goals can help us maintain our focus. No goal is set in stone; sometimes when we start off, we realize we want a redirection or to tweak it, and that is totally okay as well. Having options and different routes can be overwhelming at times, but they also tend to show us that we have more choices than we initially thought we had. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion regardless of gender, age, sexuality, or any other difference. Being able to recognize and become open to both differences and similarities help us create a more secure environment and it allows us to figure out how to meet your personal and specific needs. I look forward to working with you.

If, I ask you to describe the mask you wear, what would you say? Does the mask you wear help you feel protected and safe? Feeling protected, not showing the “real you” or the hurt and pain you suppress down. Living with depression but showing up as “perfectly fine.” You carry the burdens of everyone else hoping to help them. Being everyone’s superhero is a distraction from your own needs and desires. You may even go as far as saying, you are unheard and seen. But your mask covers the “real you.” With over 7 years of experience, my mission is to help you evolve confidently and set boundaries without shame or guilt. To help you develop a trusting relationship with yourself, leaving second-guessing in the past. Each session is your safer space with your goals in mind as we create lasting change and (slowly) take off the mask(s). First, we tend to those inner wounds. I know this is the scary part, and I will be there alongside you each step of the way. Secondly, let us take a deep breath. Breathing is the connection between the mind and body. We will be taking intentional breaths throughout our sessions. We will even move our bodies a bit to connect deeper. I would love to dive deeper with you if you are ready to step InCourage and live the best life you deserve.
