Solana Olsen
Much mahalos for taking the time to read my profile. I look forward to working with you! My name is Solana Olsen (or as my younger clients call me "Mrs. O"), and I was born and raised on the island of Oahu. I graduated from University of Hawaii-Manoa with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Family Resources. Go Rainbow Warriors! I continued my education by pursuing my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at Chaminade University of Honolulu. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Hawaii, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and hold a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential for school counseling in the State of California. For several decades, I have provided mental health counseling services in homes, schools, shelters, and juvenile detention settings. I have experience working with individuals, families, and groups. My theoretical approach with clients is generally eclectic, however, I tailor to each individual or groups’ needs. I pull primarily from dialectical behavioral-, cognitive behavioral-, and solution-focused therapies. It would be a privilege and pleasure to provide that safe, supportive and nonjudgmental space for you to work through the obstacles life has thrown your way and to help you in your journey to find your best self.

Aloha! I am delighted that you found me! I am a clinical social worker and an educator, deeply committed to embrace and empower those I work with towards living fuller, richer lives. I offer individuals a safe, supportive, encouraging, non-judgmental, and nurturing space where they may explore and grow. I help clients, by empowering them to take charge of their lives. My role is to illuminate the path to their ideal future. As a therapist, I draw inspiration from many sources, and have found that an integration of approaches and practices that are uniquely curated to each person and family tend to be especially effective in bringing about truly meaningful and sustainable change. As an EMDR trained therapist, I help clients process painful life experiences that continue to impact them. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a well-researched, integrative approach, that has been proven effective for the treatment of trauma. It utilizes the innate growth and healing mechanisms of the human nervous system. Clients report that they have received amazing benefits from EMDR. There is nothing more powerful for clearing trauma, abuse, and associated symptoms, including anxiety, depression, stress and grief. I also offer other therapeutic modalities, such as solution focused and psychodynamic therapy. With a Jungian perspective and being an educator of myth, I often integrate myths, archetypes, and dreamwork into my clinical work. It takes courage to face and embrace change. I believe that we are wired for wellness and integration, and that our innate resilience and ability to heal is greater than we can fathom. I help clients create relationships where they are comfortable enough to grow. It is through authentic relationships that we find the strength to dream big. I offer my expertise and guidance to help connect clients to that which they hold as most important. You deserve to receive competent, non-judgmental, and compassionate guidance when reaching for those goals. My services are personalized to suit individual needs. Let me assist you in discovering the depths of your personal power and positive change towards a more fulfilling and happier life.Together we can find deep and meaningful connection and insight, find joy, trust, and grow. Let’s begin the process of healing!

Joseph Bloom
The methodologies I use in practice are fairly common throughout the therapeutic community. Perhaps my main focus is on DBT or dialectic behavioral therapy. I believe that DBT is extremely helpful in managing intense emotions, In navigating social relationships. DBT works with a variety of disorders to include anxiety, depression, depression common suicidal ideation. Because DVT includes CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy, it is also very impactful in assisting people who have been traumatized either through childhood or through recent events. This provider resides in Hawaii. My approach There are times when humanistic modality is helpful. Maslow's hierarchy of human needs. Roger's notion of the self, or self-concept. I believe that each person has the answer to their maladies. Our work is to help them find those answers. However, perhaps the most frequent humanistic modality used by me is Roger's unconditional positive regard for each patient/client. I work without judgment. I rarely if ever use psychoanalytic methodologies because they are beyond my training and scope of services. However, I have used, successively, psychodynamic methodologies that allow patients/clients some access to the subconscious through guided meditations, Inner Child Work, art, and sand tray therapy. My focus I have been practicing here in Hawaii for 29 years I've worked very closely and intimately with local families and individuals, with military families and individuals, severely mentally ill individuals, individuals who have been traumatized by sexual abuse, members of the L GBTQ+ community, And with folks who just need a little help or guidance in getting their lives headed in the direction they wish. I currently work with individuals. My communication style I hope to create a professional but relaxed tone, where both you and I can speak freely and honestly. I am very easygoing, not likely to tell you what you should do, and practice unconditional patient regard. My journey to mental healthcare When I first got my Master of social work degree, I worked in counseling units and found that I had a true love for practicing clinically. It was then that I decided to get the supervision needed to get my clinical license. I do this work because there's nothing more satisfying to me than watching people get well. My goals for you I work w/ clients to articulate their goals, and then, together, we develop objectives or steps to attain that goal. My first session with you The first session is fairly casual. Discuss the meaning of confidentiality and areas where that can be broken. Important for this provider to hear from the patients themselves what brings them in this day You can expect that there'll be questions back and forth just for clarification, and being as what you would like to have is a goal or outcome of this therapeutic relationship. Sessions usually run about 45 to 50 minutes. That gives me time to prepare for my next client.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Waiohinu counselor?
Before seeing your Waiohinu therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. Waiohinu therapists here may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.
Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?
Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Waiohinu licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a Waiohinu counselor can be dependent on your process.
People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.
Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Waiohinu, Hawaii can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Waiohinu has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
