I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa with over 10 years of experience working with individuals and families. I have worked with individuals with a wide variety of concerns including trauma (abuse, neglect, domestic violence, first responders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder criteria, emotional abuse, grief and loss, abandonment, etc.), depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family of origin issues, emptiness, invisibility, LGBTQ+, and many many more. I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist and I utilize other methods in including solution-focused, strength-based, relaxation/stress management, and many others. No two clients are the same, so I do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach. I believe each person has potential for growth and healing, but each of us has encountered barriers to achieving our greatest potential through internal or external experiences. It can be very difficult to recognize those barriers and address them, and it can be very helpful to have a therapist partner accompany you on the healing journey. I like to illustrate therapy using the metaphor of bowling: my client is the bowler and has the power to choose the direction they throw the ball, the ball they select, and the power they use to throw the ball down the lane. I, as the therapist, am the bumpers - I respect my client's decisions in how they throw the ball, I guide us down the lane and keep us from going in the gutter :) The most frequent feedback I get from my colleagues and clients is that I am "real." That is, I do not pretend to be perfect and I do not expect perfection. I also am very honest because that is what I ask of my clients. I look forward to working with you and getting to know you better!

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” – George Eliot I have experience counseling people of all ages in both individual and group settings. I have ties to the military community and have been an advocate for veteran suicide awareness. I have my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and have completed courses in Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), Psychological First Aid (PFA), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am a QPR Gatekeeper for education in suicide prevention. I believe counseling provides a safe, warm, supportive relationship where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings and learn new strategies for coping with situations and emotions. My desire is to work with you to develop new patterns in your life that can lead to healthier coping skills, increased confidence, and a greater sense of purpose and meaning in your life. I believe my role is to help you utilize what you already know and your strengths to help you overcome barriers in order to grow more fully into who you want to become. I believe in the strength of human resiliency, but sometimes we become stuck and need help to move forward. I believe that one must take a holistic approach to overall health. The mind, body and spirit are so intimately connected that one most certainly influences the others. As far as human nature is concerned, I believe you have a desire to do what is right, but often find you do the very things that might not be in your best interests. That desire to do what is right is what gives me hope for everyone. I believe you can never fall too far to benefit from counseling. I believe everyone can change – if they really want to. I want to be the person that helps you on your journey of hope. I think so many people keep everything bottled up and do not share their feelings and fears with anyone. This can lead them to believe they are the only one feeling this way and that can be a very dark place. I want you to know you are not alone and that there is hope!

Hello and welcome to my profile! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Missouri and have been helping individuals seek life solutions for over 10 years. I enjoy helping clients work on a variety of issues but am especially passionate about helping women overcome issues related to anxiety and life changes (relationship, motherhood, menopause, etc). Methods that I have found particularly effective for clients in therapy include but are not limited to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention. For couples and relationship therapy I draw from the Gottman Method to guide the progression. Each client is unique and therapy is planned around the client’s needs and goals. I feel that trust in the therapeutic relationship is the basis for our work together and we will start out investing time to build that relationship. I am hopeful that through a strong therapeutic alliance and evidence-based methods we can make excellent progress toward your goals. Let’s work together to find joy and value in your life that you never thought possible!

Here's a bit about who I am and how I work: I am a licensed/certified LMHC therapist with 4 years of experience in CBT, DBT, Art Therapy and Holistic type approaches. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University and have since dedicated myself to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion and understanding. My approach to therapy is rooted in multiple different modalities because I believe in meeting my clients where they are. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, suicidal ideation, trauma, couples, adolescents, and families; just to name a few. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or seeking personal growth, I'm here to support you every step of the way. Outside of therapy, I'm passionate about developing my non-profit, reading, art, music, riding motorcycles and my family. These experiences inform my practice and enrich our therapeutic journey together. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I am committed to continuously expanding my knowledge and skills to better serve my clients. I regularly participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in the field.
