Hello, Steve here- this is our first contact, as I write to give you a sense of me as a counselor and fellow human being. I grew up as a person that people were naturally drawn to talk to and was always interested in the human experience, in all of its many facets. I found one of the top ranked counseling programs in the nation at Idaho State University and received a Master of Mental Health Counseling degree and state license in 1994. I have worked with a wide range of challenging issues that come with life throughout the age-range. My approach has always been to help people better and more fully "see" themselves, through open-minded dialogue combining support with challenge to grow- and to provide the tools with which to do so. People often lose touch with their core values and find themselves lost, questioning who they really are, and what they truly need, not just want. I combine compassion and acceptance of the person with clear encouragement to take the initial steps toward their identified goals, as many clients want to change but are afraid to, and fall short, often trying to 'protect' themselves from anticipated or imagined outcomes. A meaningful and fulfilling life requires the will- fearful or not- to venture toward one's goals, without guarantees but with a belief that some risks are far outweighed by what is to be gained. Let's team up for a while to help you move positively forward on this incredible journey- your life.

Hello! Thanks for looking into me as a potential counselor. I have worked as a counselor since 2015. I have practiced as a mental health counselor, career counselor, academic counselor, and family counselor. I've worked to help people with issues from life/career direction issues and workplace issues to anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Additionally, I am a counselor educator so I teach counseling courses to counselors-in-training. I believe there are some common elements of counseling that can help most people grow and overcome challenges. I support your growth by helping you better understand your thoughts and emotions, move towards trusting yourself, honestly and authentically living your life, and supporting you to accept the responsibility for your life direction. Counseling is not easy, but it is worth the hard work. Life can be more meaningful than just surviving each day. It can be infused with hope, meaning, and thoughtful direction. I believe our work together can help you move towards this way of living. I would be happy to work with you if you feel that my experience and beliefs connect for you!

About Me Hi, I’m James “Jimmy” Osborne, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with support, compassion, and evidence-based care. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, or life transitions, my goal is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and empowered. My Experience & Background With years of experience in mental health counseling, I have worked extensively with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including substance use, trauma, and process addictions. I have served in leadership and clinical roles within the Department of Veterans Affairs, specializing in helping veterans manage mental health conditions. Additionally, I have experience teaching psychology at the university level, which deepened my understanding of human development and behavior. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Idaho and Texas. My Approach to Therapy I believe that therapy should be collaborative, personalized, and grounded in evidence-based techniques. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), among other modalities, to help clients develop coping strategies, gain insight, and make meaningful changes. My focus is on helping you build resilience, improve emotional well-being, and achieve personal growth in a way that feels authentic and attainable for you. How I Can Help No matter what you’re facing, you don’t have to go through it alone. Together, we can work through your challenges, uncover strengths, and develop strategies that help you lead a more fulfilling life.
