Try not! Do or Do Not, There is no try." These are very powerful words telling people, especially to those in therapy that you must either willingly make your own necessary and sometimes critical changes in your life or you don't. Therapy is about actively regaining control of your personal energy. Therapy is a collaborative approach to healing and well-being between a client and therapist. The therapist helps guide a person into making better life decisions, but the client must intuitively think of new ways of managing their life stressors that they are comfortable starting and maintaining. Clients not willing to make changes for themselves will continue to spin helplessly and hopelessly out of control. The mind is constantly changing; people in therapy must also learn to continually adjust and adapt to new situations while keeping a mindful-eye on their past. Education and Training: Dr. Hurley received his Master of Arts (MA) in General and Theoretical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) in Teaneck, New Jersey. He graduated with a Doctoral Degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology (FIPP) in Springfield, Missouri. At FIPP, Dr. Hurley specialized in Marriage and Family Counseling. Other areas of training include neuro-psychology, anger management, bio-feedback, and pre-marital counseling. During his doctoral program he worked in a children's psychiatric hospital. His internship was in community mental health, and he participated in a national study on Schizophrenia. Dr. Hurley's post-doc residency was in substance abuse and rehabilitation. After his post-doc residency he spent two years in private practice in Libertyville, IL. Dr. Hurley then became the medical director for a Chicago based firm doing home health care delivering mental health therapy to Chicago's south-side geriatric African-American population who live in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Dr. Hurley has taught undergraduate students at Robert Morris College in Aurora, IL and graduate students at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He finds teaching to be a change of pace and a way of leading a new generation of therapists into the Health Services Industry. His career path changed when he moved to Knoxville, TN. Dr. Hurley was the Clinical Director for Mental Health for Tennessee's main intake prison facility. He worked with various criminals making sure that they received the help they needed and to minimize suicide attempts. Dr. Hurley's stance on his education, training, and career is to always strive to learn more, to do more, and to be the best therapist possible. Dr. Hurley has since moved and changed careers. He has worked in private practice dealing with individuals and couples while supervising trainees. He has also gone back into working with the criminal population in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Dr. Hurley is always looking for ways to help people become the very best version of themselves. Therapeutic Stance: My approach to therapy with my clients is multi-faceted. There is no one therapy to fit all. I like to approach issues from a psycho-dynamic, family systems, CBT, Gestalt, existential, and medical stance. When dealing with mental health disorders you have to consider the mind as well as the body for the root of a problem. Therapy needs to be understandable by those who seek help and I have spent years refining my technique to help clients understand the issues they're facing and the theories on how to resolve said issues. People feel more comfortable and understood if you can talk to them in the various places they are currently. I love to see individuals, couples, and groups in a calm, peaceful, and most importantly neutral environment. I love to make presentations to groups for psycho-educational purposes as well. Personal: Other psychological interests include neuro-psychology and brain imaging, music and movie therapy, sexual dysfunction and addictions, sports psychology, and psychopharmacology. I hope to further my training in psychopharmacology in order to receive prescribing privileges in Illinois. I love to use humor, music, movies and TV in sessions because they are examples of life experiences people can relate too. I have a wonderful wife and family who make me happy, and who help me strive to be the best person I can be.

Hi! I’m Ingrid Wheeler. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. More specifically, I am a listener, advocate, supporter, and helper. About me: I have been in the field of Social Work for over 10 years, working in inpatient/outpatient mental health clinics, rural health clinics, outpatient therapy, and therapy services in higher education settings. My experiences in the field have led me to working with a variety of people facing different challenges in different setting in a spectrum of age, gender, and races. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree for Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and Master’s Degree in Social Work, with a specialization in mental health, from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. I have extensive experience helping individuals with a variety of challenges, from mental health challenges such as psychosis, substance abuse/dependence, personality disorders, suicidal ideation, relationship conflicts, behavioral issues, and stress management. Through individual, couples, family and group therapy, I have worked with a variety of ages in settings such as inpatient, outpatient, and dual diagnosis and addiction treatment centers, rural health clinics, and students in higher education. I have always been a “helper”. As a “military brat” growing up I constantly faced change and transitions, some easier than others. As the oldest child in a bi-racial (Latino/White) and military family, I was always helping someone. Whether it was advocating for my mother experiencing challenges related to her race or deescalating siblings, I was always helping. The advocacy and support I practiced led me to my desire to pursue Social Work. Being able to help someone cope with their life experience(s) and to make a lasting impact with someone fuels my work in this field. I help individuals and couples who are looking to support their overall mental health. I support my clients by exploring their stressors, improving a person’s insight into themselves and their challenges, and begin to manage emotions in the ways that work for them. My approach in therapy is client-centered and includes a variety of evidence-based approaches that fit my client’s needs, from interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to general life skills building. The needs of my clients are important and heard in session. I use their feedback on what interventions may be most useful to them as we constantly work together to figure out what will work for them to achieve their goals. When I’m not working with clients, I am spending time with my family. I am married to my high school sweet heart, a self-employed business owner. Together, we have three kids between 16-4 year’s old and two dogs. We like to have movie marathons, go camping, and enjoy outdoor warm weather activities.

Hi, I’m Molly! I know reaching out for therapy can be a big step, and my goal is to make the process as welcoming and effective as possible. My style is warm, supportive, and action-oriented—I don’t just listen; I help you make real, lasting changes. I specialize in working with adults who feel stuck—whether that’s in habits, addiction, motivation struggles, anxiety, or depression. If you’ve tried therapy before and felt like just talking didn’t help, you’re in the right place. I use TEAM-CBT, a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps you identify what’s holding you back and gives you practical tools to move forward. My style includes holding patients accountable—with self-help assignments and therapy homework between sessions—so you can get the most out of your time and see real progress. I also bring experience working with individuals across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Initial sessions are held via secure video to assess your needs and ensure we're a good fit. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’d be honored to support you on your journey.
