I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) since 1999. I have successfully worked with a variety of individual, couple and family issues such as healing from the trauma of infidelity, ineffective communication, conflict management issues, premarital counseling, relationship dissatisfaction, sexual issues, divorce, depression, anxiety, anger, grief, sleep issues, poor self-esteem, sexual issues, etc. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Child Development and Family Studies from Purdue University. I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, a Certified Gottman Seven Principles Leader and a Board Certified TeleMental Health Professional (BC-TMH). I have published and presented on the topics of infidelity, tele-mental health, clinical supervision, tele-supervision and clinical documentation. I have also taught psychology courses at Purdue University and Illinois Institute of Technology. I generally check my messages each day, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours and respond as quickly as I can. My goal is to respond within 24 hours during the weekdays. I do appreciate your patience when it takes a bit longer at times, as I may be tending to other clients or other professional responsibilities. I prefer to do therapy via weekly live video sessions as therapy progresses much more quickly with this modality which means you will feel relief much faster. Live video sessions are usually 30 to 45 minutes long. Currently, all of my evening appointments are full. Most of my availability is between 11:00AM Central and 3:00PM Central, Monday through Thursday. Regarding scheduling, I do not use my BetterHelp calendar as I prefer to make appointments directly with you. I am looking forward to working with you!

As a therapist and social activist, I have a passion for supporting other world changers in being able to care for themselves while they do the hard work of making the world a better place. I have spent my career in the trenches of community and social activism. I have a passion for helping others and personally experienced the emotional toll this work can have on your personal life. As a person of faith, my work is grounded in my own spirituality but I also realize this does not safeguard us from compassion fatigue. I can help my clients to navigate the stresses of life to find ways to connect to natural and community based supports. My goal is to help my clients to embrace their sense of call to their vocation, while also learning to balance other parts of their lives with outlets for joy and creativity in order to combat stress, depression and anxiety.

The Initiation of counseling illustrates that an individual is ready to explore the possibilities of growth and refocusing on their strengths. Gaining the courage to attend the first session can be a major hurdle as we acknowledge that we are vulnerable and something is not working in our best interest. With the stigmatism of mental health, many individuals feel that if they seek counseling they may damaged. This is not the case. Counseling is about individuals seeking a safe environment in which they are able to be supported and gain skills to be able to function more optimally in which their lives can be so much more fulfilling. Change is fostered through acceptance and connection. Reconnecting relationships is a major agent of change, whether between the therapist and the individual, parents and their children, or between partners. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental relationship that will allow for individuals, couples and families to foster healing, growth and repair. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who is certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) while also using rapid resolution therapy (RRT) and accelerated resolution therapy (ART) to eliminate the persistent symptoms left over from experiencing a traumatic event. I employ The Gottman Method with couples and play therapy with children. I also treat sexual and pornography addictions as I’m a certified sexual addictions treatment provider (SATP-C). I focus on various other modalities of therapy such as solutions focused therapy, logotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy in order for the client to be able to manage stress, anxiety and depression in a more adaptive manner.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana with 6 years of professional work experience. I help clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self esteem, confidence, and depression. If we decide to work together we will become a team. We will identify treatment objectives to help us achieve your goals and we will adjust our strategies as we make progress. I am always open to feedback from my clients about the goals we are working on, my approach to the therapy process, and how my clients are feeling about therapy in general. I look forward to understanding your perspective in how we are working together. I often work with people from many cultural and life backgrounds and look forward to seeing how to incorporate that into our work as well. Together we will combine my skills as a therapist with your strengths and experiences as a person and work to build the life you want. My personality is calm and easy going. I enjoy laughing at myself. I am comfortable in both more structured approaches to therapy sessions as well as more conversational styles of therapy. Sometimes we will discuss the things you're experiencing in your life, sometimes past experiences, and sometimes we will focus on the tools and strategies I can teach you. Together we will explore how to integrate these techniques into your life and examine the experiences you have as you work toward your goals. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started! It is understandable and acceptable if you're not sure what therapy is and how it works, I can answer any questions you have. I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how our time together can build the future you want. Change is possible, healing does happen, and it would be an honor and a privilege to join you in your journey to the life you want.
