Hi! I'm David and I'm a licensed therapist in the states of Indiana & Tennessee. I have a broad range of experiences in mental health, with a wide variety of people served. I love helping people find hope, find their way and help them on their road to a better life; helping people discover what works for them and their own answers for what matters to them. Over the years I've worked extensively with young people and adults with depression, anxiety, anger, hopelessness, doubt, grief, fear and a host of transitional issues. I don't believe in a one size fits all therapy, so I use an eclectic comfortable style, that provides kindness, compassion, direction, hope and caring, While we work through issues we set a course with goals and objectives to help build hope today and success as we move forward. I like to provide supportive insight, developing understanding and reaching short-term goals as we work towards long-term goals. The goal is for you to experience a sense of hope and support, while helping you identify your goals and a clear sense of how to achieve them. I look forward to meeting you!

I began working in the field at a VA Hospital Indiana psychiatric unit at the age of 18. My official first mental health job was at a psychiatric inpatient unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1977 when I was 22. From there I was hired at the local mental health center and worked the next 40 years. I retired in from my job of 40 years in 2018 but have continued to do private practice. I have a passion to work with people who need therapy. I am excited to keep working in the field of counseling. My specialties include, trauma counseling, grief work, anxiety disorders, depression and LGBTQ issues. I specifically love to take Trauma cases and people who have anxiety disorders. Since the pandemic began, I have done Telehealth services from my home and in the private practice office. Better Help with its focus on telehealth is the perfect place for me to work. I enjoy being a therapist because I feel it was the path I was meant to follow. I look forward to accepting new clients.

The Initiation of counseling illustrates that an individual is ready to explore the possibilities of growth and refocusing on their strengths. Gaining the courage to attend the first session can be a major hurdle as we acknowledge that we are vulnerable and something is not working in our best interest. With the stigmatism of mental health, many individuals feel that if they seek counseling they may damaged. This is not the case. Counseling is about individuals seeking a safe environment in which they are able to be supported and gain skills to be able to function more optimally in which their lives can be so much more fulfilling. Change is fostered through acceptance and connection. Reconnecting relationships is a major agent of change, whether between the therapist and the individual, parents and their children, or between partners. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental relationship that will allow for individuals, couples and families to foster healing, growth and repair. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who is certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) while also using rapid resolution therapy (RRT) and accelerated resolution therapy (ART) to eliminate the persistent symptoms left over from experiencing a traumatic event. I employ The Gottman Method with couples and play therapy with children. I also treat sexual and pornography addictions as I’m a certified sexual addictions treatment provider (SATP-C). I focus on various other modalities of therapy such as solutions focused therapy, logotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy in order for the client to be able to manage stress, anxiety and depression in a more adaptive manner.
