Kathleen Levy
My first mental health job was as a Mental Health Technician in an adult inpatient facility connected to a Psychiatric Center in 1972. Next, became a group foster parent (10 foster kids at a time) in Colorado and in Kansas. During the years from 1970-1978, I was a kind of a, 'professional student' studying many diverse subjects (for fun) ultimately graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology. During my educational career, I embraced physical fitness as a personal trainer, clinical exercise specialist and 1/2 marathon runner (15 years), a fully-certified Stott Pilates Instructor and student of Quantum physics, an evolved approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. During these decades, I have tended to move away from a, 'pathology' approach and toward a strengths perspective approach with a focus on holistic health. Subsequently, I worked at Topeka State Hospital, Memorial Hospital adolescent unit and The Menninger Foundation as a social worker. In 1978, I began in private practice with my late husband, Dr Ed Levy, a child psychiatrist and worked as his partner for 42 years until he passed away in 2018-42 years. After Ed passed away, I continued in our practice as a solo practitioner, LSCSW. In the fall of 2018, I began to see clients through TalkSpace as well as my private practice. For 18 years, I have also owned and taught in my Pilates studio which I moved to my home 6 years ago. I continue to teach Pilates/Yoga/Meditation over Zoom and Face Time from my at home studio. Ed and I raised a combined family of 5 children. We were blessed with 11 grandchildren and now have 8 great grand children. Ed was 17 years my senior and only met one of the great grandchildren before he went to Heaven from a pneumonia that seemed to come out of nowhere. I love animals and have 2 kitty cats whom I adore. They are my companions and my joy day to day. This wonderful balance of work and play is my dream. I always want to see how I can help.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?
Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Hamilton, Kansas can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.
Hamilton has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online sessions to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.
Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?
The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you.
