Hello and congratulations on taking this courageous and hopeful step toward wholeness. My name is Stephanie Risinger and I'm a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist. Don't let the title fool you! Most of my work is with individuals. Being a marriage and family therapist simply means I have a specialized understanding of how our personal struggles and mental health challenges can affect relationships. I have 13 years of clinical experience in working with a wide range of concerns and mental health challenges. Examples include (but not limited to) grief/loss, life changes, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, infertility, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and co-dependency. I received my Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University in 2009. In addition, I served as an adjunct professor of psychology for five years at California Baptist University and has been a featured speaker at numerous community events, organizational meetings, trainings, and retreats. I look forward to connecting with you.

Taking the step to participate in therapy/counseling takes tremendous courage and desire for something in one's life to be different. As a therapist, my job is to create an atmosphere that encourages alliance between therapist and client, a key component for successful therapy. I consider myself primarily a generalist in types of clients I work with as I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups. The therapy relationship makes the theory and techniques used most effective. Building this is the first task in a therapeutic relationship. Through this alliance clients and I venture on a journey often anxiety-provoking (as any/all change is) and develop skills and strategies to managed problems and resolve difficulties. My theoretical approach draws from many areas. The primary influence is cognitive-behavioral theory. What is best and most effective is very individual to each client and situation.

Adam Hewitt
Hello! My name is Adam Hewitt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Missouri. I have been with BetterHelp since 2021 after spending several years in private practice as a mental health therapist and substance abuse counselor. I've always been passionate about helping people overcome their challenges. When it comes to therapy, I like to keep things friendly and honest. I will never talk down to you or make you feel like a burden. I find it incredibly rewarding to see the joy on people's faces when they realize just how strong they can be, whether it's facing their fears, overcoming addictions, or taking control of their lives. As for my therapeutic approach, I focus on your strengths. I believe that everyone has innate abilities that can help them achieve their life goals, and it is my job to help you find yours. I take a mindfulness based approach, and am very sensitive to how technology and culture intersect to make our lives more complicated. I've worked significantly with people dealing with trauma, substance and gaming addiction, and systemic oppression. My aim is to help individuals become empowered to go out into the world feeling in charge of their lives. I don't consider myself to work for an agency; I'm here because of you. My promise is to let you take the lead to make the changes in your life that are meaningful to you. My hope is that my openness and positive attitude will make you feel trusted and inspired to live the life you deserve.
