Hello:) My name is Evangeline Suppes. I am a licensed clinical social worker practice in Missouri, and a licensed specialist clinical social worker in the State of Kansas. I have been in the field for 16 years. My goal in my practice is to meet clients where they are and provide proper support during their unique journeys.  I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This approach often helps my clients with developing a better understanding in the relations between feelings, thinking, and behavior. I primarily utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) in my practice, which it allows me to build a rapport with my clients and develop a deeper understanding of their perspective while staying focused on their goals in treatment. It is important to me that my clients feel they are heard and understood during the working relationship.  I have extensive experience in providing individual and group therapy to adults who are dealing with emotional difficulties and coping with changes in their lives. In the past 8 years, I have been heavily investing my time in providing clinical services in the correctional setting. I often cooperate psycho-education surrounding various topics to support each individual in navigating their goals. I stand for promoting client self-determination and aim for supporting individual to make healthy, pro-social decisions in life. When working with clients, I’m clear and respectful. I believe honestly and sincerity enhance working relationship with clients.

I love counseling individuals, couples, and families from all social classes and standings. I am respective of all people and social classes. I embrace respect for multi-cultural counseling. My experience includes service to civilian and military populations for thirty-six years as a military service member and as a federal employee. I am well experienced and prepared to address the concerns associated with the demands of the military and civilian lifestyles. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying comprehensive therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're looking for support and guidance through a challenging situation or you are just ready to move in a new direction. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. I accept a client’s immediate family relationships and larger social context as being important resources in solving life’s problems. Goals for therapy are always established through collaboration with the client. The overall objective for therapy is always the successful resolution of the problems that are deemed the most important through that collaborative process. I practice an integrated approach. I believe that our initial assessment should indicate to us what would appear to be most likely to help the client achieve individual goals. I practice responsible selection of appropriate theory, model, and interventions. I work from a people-oriented approach, which means that I assist couples and families in organizing their relationships so that resources can be brought to bear on the problems being presented. Techniques that I often employ are instruction and modeling of communication skills, interactive processes, family role-playing, and family sculpting, and between-session interactive assignments. Additionally, homework is a vital part of the therapeutic process. The completion of homework is necessary if the client is to get the most from the therapeutic experience. My training includes family systems theory and models such as Bowenian Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Object Relations Therapy. I also use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Reality Therapy and Multi-Model Therapy. I employ Client-centered approaches such as Rogerian and Psychoanalytic type theories and models just to name a few. Rest assured that I believed that you are of great value and it is my intent to help you raise that awareness to a meaningful understanding resulting in increased self-worth! I hold License # 880 as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with the LPC Board of Examiners, 8631 Summa Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, and 225-765-2515. I also hold License # LPC005547 as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the The Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists, 237 Coliseum Drive, Macon, GA 31217. I have a Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary; A Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia; A Master of Science in Community Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Counseling from Columbus State University in Columbus Georgia; a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia Georgia (Atlanta Georgia); and a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I am a clinical fellow with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). I am also a graduate of the United States Army Chaplain Family Life Counseling Program.

My name is Bob McElwee, and I have been a clinical therapist for more than 25 years. I am a retired clergyman, and I currently work as a teacher and chaplain at a boys boarding school in Southeast Kansas. My wife and I have raised seven children, and we currently have 15 grandchildren. I have earned master’s degrees in literature, theology, and clinical psychology. Additionally, I also have an associate degree as a motorcycle repair and maintenance technician. In addition to riding and repairing Harley Davidson motorcycles, I enjoy gardening, carpentry, scuba diving, long distance bicycle riding, model trains, exercise, travel, and reading. As a clergyman I have considerable experience in marriage preparation, couples counseling, divorce adjustment, and grief and bereavement therapy. As a clinical therapist most of my work has been with individual mood disorders (e.g. anxiety and depression). I am a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT). As such I have worked mostly with people in stressed relationships that have produced individual disfunctions and flawed coping strategies. My theoretical basis for most of my therapeutic interventions is most accurately described as “Cognitive-Behavioral.” Even so I take “Script Theory” seriously and find it a useful tool in helping people to re-conceptualize and organize their personality structure and characteristics. In this regard I am currently investigating “Narrative Therapy” and its theoretic techniques. At base I am an optimistic person who believes that people have the ability to recover from past negative experiences if given proper tools, techniques, and encouragement. I enjoy assisting people as they create a productive, responsible, principled, and creative life that they can be proud of, and enjoy.
