Are you ready to make a change by setting realistic, attainable goals that will lead to better relationships and an overall better quality of life? Hello, my name is Mary Beth and I have over 25 years of experience in clinical work and counseling in the State of Maryland having successfully worked with adults, children and families. My therapy approach is collaborative and supportive in nature. I am known for creating a safe environment and empowering people with the tools they need to overcome challenges, whether it be behavioral, emotional or in relationships. I will help you identify your strengths and determine what goals you have that we can work on together to achieve your best life! Some of my stronger areas involve helping individuals with anxiety and stress, overcoming loss and grief, and dealing with the past traumas and LGBTQI+ issues. I am also trained in mind/ body approaches to cope with stress and anxiety and work effectively with people of faith and/or those with a sense of spirituality. I look forward to assisting you in becoming the best version of yourself possible.

A therapeutic relationship is a trusting, meaningful, and nonjudgmental relationship where healing can begin. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor I work with my clients to gain an understanding and manage issues that may be interfering with their everyday life, relationships, and/or personal growth. My goal is to help clients find happiness in the present moment while exploring possibilities of the future regardless of their current circumstance. My passion is to help individuals find their strengths, courage, and confidence to build resiliency. In my work as a therapist, I have over 10 yrs. experience working with individuals, families, and couples in variety settings. My work is very integrative due to my use of several therapeutic approaches which include trauma work, CBT, Solution Focus, Person-Centered, Mindfulness, and Behavioral therapy. Mental health symptoms may emerge or worsen during times of uncertainty, major life decision, transitions, or with intrusive memories of the past. Regardless of the issue, I work with my clients to eliminate these symptoms and navigate you through difficult times to regain stability.

Welcome! Congratulations on taking this next step in your journey to becoming the best version of yourself. Starting therapy, whether you have never been in counseling before or are trying a new way to connect with a counselor, can be scary, and I hope learning more about me and how I approach counseling helps you feel more comfortable. I am a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work and I have been practicing clinical social work as a therapist in private practice for the past ten years. I have worked with people of all ages, experiencing a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and difficulty adjusting to life changes. I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, incorporating a number of theoretical perspectives, based on your needs. I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and other approaches. Therapy is a collaborative process, starting with where you are, identifying your strengths and needs, and working together to set goals to help you get to where you want to be. I am non-judgmental, open, and committed to the core social work values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity and competence. I hope that you will feel comfortable sharing your story with me, and that the therapeutic relationship we will build will help you feel welcomed, safe and understood. *If you would like to work with me, please note that my availability for live sessions for new clients is currently limited to what is shown on my schedule.* If this does not match with your availability, please consider selecting a different counselor, as my availability is not likely to change in the near future. I wish you the best on your journey, and hope we have the opportunity to work together.

I am a Clinical Social Worker licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia with 15 years’ experience as a therapist, clinical consultant, and trauma trainer. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Throughout my practice, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling to manage their emotional and behavioral health due to the impact of trauma, maltreatment, grief, loss, mental health challenges, and stressful life experiences. My style is warm, compassionate, and strengths-based. I believe that everyone deserves a safe space free of judgment and open to exploration. My approach is grounded in healing-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive interactions that promote empowerment. My practice integrates the latest research in neuroscience, trauma, attachment theory, and cognitive-behavioral techniques. I believe in leveraging the healing power of the brain-body connection. Stress and adverse experiences can impact how we experience ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. I partner with my clients to explore how their past and present experiences may impact how they think, feel, and act. By raising awareness of body signals, triggers, and patterns of responses, we position ourselves to identify and reinforce restorative pathways that promote growth and healing. Together, we develop strategic and personalized interventions that build upon their unique set of strengths, meaningful connections, and interests to help them achieve goals one step at a time. I believe that attuned and responsive relationships are essential to transformational healing and growth. Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and valued for who they are, not simply what they do. As your partner in this process, you can count on me to be fully engaged, meet you where you are, and affirm your worth every step of the way. The therapeutic process should be intriguing, empowering, and rewarding throughout the journey. I look forward to working with you!

In a world that inundates us with all things negative it’s hard to weed through all of the noise. You need a safe place to do just that. I’m here to give you that safe place. I just want you to win! I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 16 years of experience working with individuals to help them maintain their mental and physical health and well-being in the least restrictive environment. My preferred therapeutic methods are solution focused, client-centered, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. Mindset is everything. It is important to know that thoughts become things. In other words, your thoughts and feelings can produce actions that are causing you not to function in your daily life in a way that would allow you to be productive. We will work together to help you recognize your current way of thinking and behavior and equip you with tools that can change your harmful thoughts into helpful thoughts that will produce positive action. We will work together to help you create goals with plans that you will be excited to execute because they will lead you to the life you truly want to live. I look forward to helping you become the best you, you can be.
