I use a variety of techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, brief trauma informed care and Reiki. We will begin our work wherever you are emotionally, we will work on care planning together, you will have homework assignments and be very active in creating your path to emotional comfort, change and growth.

Megan Vaccaro
Hello! I'm so glad you're here. My name is Megan Vaccaro and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker from, "The Great Lakes State"...Michigan. I graduated in 2000 from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. I work with individuals, couples and families on issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, behavior issues, family conflict, trauma/abuse and parenting issues. My treatment approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy which works with challenging distorted thinking, aka-thinking traps (we all get tripped up with this). It's good to know how to challenge negative thoughts in order to have more positive experiences. I also use dialectical behavior therapy which includes work on mindfulness (awareness of thoughts, feelings, behaviors and behavioral urges), distress tolerance (stress will happen..what do we do about it?), emotion regulation (I'm overwhelmed with emotion...now what?) and interpersonal effectiveness (building and maintaining positive relationships). I thrive on problem solving, so, it makes sense that solution focused therapy is also used. I will take a non-judgmental stance allowing you to feel comfortable sharing whatever circumstance that brought you to Betterhelp. I care about people and know that we all go through struggles in life. I approach people with respect and honor as I often think how I would want to be treated or how I would want my family to be treated in the counseling environment. I value effective communication and place a high priority on this.

Ginger Drake
I am a fully licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan. My experience has been predominantly with men and women struggling with substance abuse and addiction. I have tried many theoretical orientations over the years. Currently, however, I am pursuing certification in biblical Christian counseling, which draws exclusively from biblical information and principles. I have found that this is by far the most effective approach when an individual is looking to make authentic change. And believe me, I have looked! Thanks!

I am licensed in Michigan with 22 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, anger management, depression, & coping with life changes. I focus on helping people change themselves for the better. I use specific, short-term, solution-focused treatment techniques based on insight and behavioral change. I work with a wide range of presenting problems and mood disorders including depression / grief, anxiety/phobias, anger management, adjustment, bipolar and obsessive-compulsive disorders. I focus on rapport and utilization of a client's strengths as a therapeutic foundation. My role is to facilitate real change in people by helping them to hear what they need to hear, in a way that they are able to accept it, even if it is difficult. This acceptance of reality is critical to creating permanent positive changes in people's lives. I believe that the mind and body are deeply connected, and that optimal mental health cannot be achieved without proper nutrition and physical health. I also believe in the power of the conscious as well as the unconscious mind to relieve symptoms and make lasting changes.
